It is the end of a beautiful week but such sad news. Coming right from the heart of our own states. A real heartbreaker overnight Kimmel continue for very long time. It is of course what is trending the most but we do have on things and we hope that you will stay with us for all of that and lucky for me right here with us. On news anchor and reporter David Blaine. And it is a TGI Friday's no matter watts in you can't take that away for you can't take that way. And Todd Manassas just the man of the hour every hour well thank you so much and as I told Dave before he came and David. He got the came through today normally David has seen I have my crunch gala at the crash so you get get the the extra. Armed crew yeah I got rid of the micro to some time ago in the. Let me tell you you're both doing pretty darn well I'm watching it on didn't fly and on that home. Let's talk about what happened last night. Yeah and for some people of was an early morning thing others got the word last night. And of course have we been allowed to look all part techsters here WWL. But it is tragic and as the day has unfolded we've had to. Full news conferences now involving the police chief Jim craft in Lafayette who's gonna hack of a job I think as being right on top of this thing from the beginning. Of course joining him right along side. Colonel Mike Edmondson. A state police they've got investigators. High and low in and out of that movie theater and there are Iran. They're being methodical. As the words that the chief used in this investigation. They wanna make sure that nothing is missed. Nothing slip by them. And it appears at this time we've learned so much more. You almost don't wanna know more. About the shooter but you have to and and you know when we're concerned so much about the victims in the people died. In this and there carnage in the tragedy we know more about John Russell Hauser. 59 years old A director. Described by police who stood up twenty minutes into the movie and fired first at two people sitting right in front of them. Denny gained his handgun and others firing at least thirteen. Times. That he tried to escape. Body was spotted. By police officers and he saw them coming man they were out in the parking lot here. Right on routine patrol one this was going on inside. And as he spotted the cops coming in that's when he took the gun to himself and took his own life. The two fatalities. 33 year old Julian Johnson. And 21 year old Macy row of that area and we have one more person in those critical shape. We hope and pray that they get through it and is. They say that people wounded. Range from their teens and there late sixties. So what we got a couple released from the hospital several more. Still being treated him we're learning more about John Russell Hauser. His mental state. Apparently his wife. Of some time said he was mentally ill. And so violent. That they at one time hid his guns and sought police to help keep him. Oh why this was evident in court documents. And there's much more but the motel he was staying and switching the license plate on the car apparently a despise. In the motel room yes and that they found as well when they search let's. Made them believe that he really didn't think he was going to be killing himself. No he was trying to get out with the crowd yeah him when he saw the police you trying to blend in the crowd as the crow would running out when he saw the police he realized. You know that. Probably Hillary there hit the gun in his hand gun in his hand embassy and someone would identify him obviously so. That's woody and he went back into the theater from the reports and then took off. He had been involuntarily committed to I think it was in 2008. Yes and down and now somewhat estranged from his family. Your rights David we must focus on the trauma that the people have been through in the theater certainly the lives lost the lives impacted. By being wounded not to any degree. But and to the entire community of Lafayette it is a precious wonderful. American wheezing in a town and this will change change. In some ways in some ways yes that they are resilient we've all heard that we all know that they will carry on. But it will impact them. Yacht in today and you've got to wonder again as the days go on from this about. The new calls for security the new calls for gun control and you know it's if we go through this every time. In and just as we were. Trying to put the the horrible James Holmes Colorado thing behind us and that's shooting. In which twelve people were killed and seventy wounded. In the Colorado. Situation. Is seized in the penalty phase of his. A situation there in Colorado and it was basically three years ago yes almost certainly kill your Monday Monday it would in the third year Albert. And so you know we can talk wasn't copycat what we will never know what was in this man's mind now it is interesting note that. He he was an educated guy had gone to law school he was a blogger he was. Very politically active. You know again you know you never stereotype which you think. Yes it was mental illness. Woven throughout his life but he was functioning at some point what was this tipping point. Yeah off what was that Jones was the you know there may have been a little alcohol involved there checking into that. And every single angle FBI is in on the case because they just wanna make sure. That they're not gonna miss anything in this but apparently I think that was a key point brought up by yeah. Colonel Edmondson when he said that we have no hole. Reason no reason to believe that this guy is connected to a group connected to any one else is there going to be you know Maurer retaliation. Religious. You know sure that he is there and they're gonna do a thorough investigation they're gonna follow up on everything he's done on line everything he's blog everything he's talked about. Deceived those connections exist but at this point as colonel Edmondson says it. You know don't jump to conclusions we don't know anything and we don't think he was affiliated with the type of of party that was one of these. Guys who you know I don't know what he was upset his wife obviously filed for divorce and and march on of that was of 2000 later this year. After the whole incident where she she knew that he was in danger to himself in 2008 he was involuntarily committed by his family. To a medal institute Touche and he he got out of that. You know a couple of years ago he said he was he was a drifter. He was not from the Lafayette area he was from Alabama actually the album police are also cooperating. Are you with the Lafayette police did help investigate of their and if anything was on on that side so. It it's one of those things where you just you don't know if it's going to happen. What made this man snapped and decided to do this. Obviously he didn't wanna take his own life he wasn't suicidal but he wanted to hurt others because he tried to escape and if he had. A disguise in the motel obviously had changed license plates on the car got he thought he was going to get away. Probably put on the disguise and him to and Anna and I think was totally stunned yeah that the police were there to quit that and I was like wow we talk about snapping when I think of snap I think of that. On instant in a moment when you go bull. When in fact a lot of planning and when you're in a lot of planning and a so this was a thought out to the issue is is and I'm sure everybody in Lafayette is asking while Lafayette you know there was an uncle that died thirty years ago cities to this. But why Lafayette but why any place and why anything. Just. I know when those are just choose a place why. Maybe he had been travelling he had been there for awhile at a hotel with the senator John hanging around an area maybe he was scouting the area finding a place that he thought he could do this and get away with. And that just happened to be at an iffy perhaps and again I'm all speculating on sharks there's nothing from the through police on the rise on this and just tell us talking. Perhaps if he didn't find that place where he thought he could committed and get away with it in Lafayette. He would have moved onto another town where anybody can Dow losing whose family you can imagine you know for a moment maybe the you know severe depression situation. And maybe that was maybe. You know part of it that he wanted some headlines he wanted to. Gave his name out there. You know four or the ex wife to be or what I don't you know it's just we're gonna get more obvious Natalie Leslie did a delve into this. And I tell you child Manassas and I'm gonna stay for the second hour and we're going to be talking about the some are gonna do a little little different. Discussion that we would really love your input into our listeners. About if you think. These horrific killings or more a reflection of our country sort of lack of looking at mental illness. Or is it more about the gun culture what is it in your mind and how is it really going to affect your life. Are you gonna be leery every time you walk in to a public sent. Because this isn't the first this. Well no that no innocent purely an American thing. Now we get the finger pointed out us because the evidence is there like you say case after case after case they've Adam overseas and that's what's so while yeah but. But they're not random they're very targeted to the thing that happened in Paris the thing that happened with the the German guy yes but but I agree with India is it more Voss. Anyway this is a discussion for 2 o'clock to six of one in seventy at that time we're gonna take a break we're gonna come back. We do have some other things that trending we hope you stay with this financial on Davida you and we're back with David Blake and top Manassas and we're talking about what's trending. And so many woke up two or almost woke up tin pot. Boiling water gas above Marlins boil boil and here we are boiling literally sit in the seat and at. Outcomes this warning from the sewage and water board it is precautionary. But ye you've got to take him seriously. They had these power surges that impacted to the pumping stations. Which apparently not the pressure. Down to below what's considered acceptable. And means some untreated stop could use it in the water system. And so on came in the order. And words in it in the east bank only of new world not Jefferson payers should not Algiers. Just east bank of world records regard about most of the city. And that's a lot of folks and they can't. So when minute. They can today then they can't shower and a no teeth brushing no drinking it no washing your food and you can make excellent. Analysts you boiled it first and how long do you think they're thinking they're thinking. The test results are being taken as we speak or go to the lab. The state lab analysis they're hoping some time. A terrific comeback was an answer might not be a good answer. I don't know but there hoping. That they you know they come back maybe we begin an all clear. They had to close down the Norton tools not a good time you know bless their hearts and that's India that's today and tomorrow because why well it's not the chlorine is good in the pool but. The kids have to shower first before there are allowed to get in the pool can't do the shower. So no nor to you know war. It's just it's ironical that this week has been an amoeba is in Saint Bernard pairs ironic the brain eating amigos but they can drink their water they just can't get it up and no doubt. And then in a blink of the nine we can't brush her teeth her drinker water creek are loaded up you know it's. And we are surrounded by water. We are Waterville. In order everywhere not a threat you know but people need to you know it's a precaution but. One messed around with. Are you gotta you gotta heated and that and I've heard of for many people who just maybe they catch that headline market environment and I suppose I mean battery. No no no known as of different water system not its not not the same thing but east bank of New Orleans or you can keep them locked in your brain but again we're done. A lot of follow up limited which is nice of you have a friend in Metairie bring your toothbrush go brushing teeth over there enough. Let's fill up a lot of water. We're gonna descending that we were just talking about Rick I'm fascinated by and that's in this is gonna lightness all Earth's older cousin. Yeah NASA has said they announced this yesterday that confirmed it that they have found Earth's bigger older cousin quote that's what they say. It's the first nearly earth size planet to be found in what they'd like to call the goldilocks zone that habitable zone where earth is. Just close enough to the sun and far enough away so that you have. Liquid water and it doesn't burn off and you can have an atmosphere. Now it's. The planet is Kepler dash for five to be. It's about 14100 light years from earth so it's not right next door I guess in space terms that maybe right next door. But it that would mean that traveling at the speed of light it would still take 14100 years to get there are a member of one more time 14100. Years 1400. At my history of her life yes thank you it's in the consolation sickness it's about 60% bigger than earth and they say it's in the region where it probably has life sustaining liquid water possible on the surface. There are more then. Better than even the odds that hasn't rocky surface. I mean they're pretty much pain this that it looks a lot like what we would expect. We see earth to look like from space. It's bigger than her so. Is it the gravity would be bigger would be twice is what we feel here. But it takes 385 days for it to orbit its star similar our 365. Days. He is and that's something earth. So I know I've done this how did they find it well they they have the these telescope radio telescopes in south they look at they look at the stars and they can see the stars. And the stars wobble. Then they know that there's something rotating around a star that's causing the gravity to move. And they have to watch the shadows and figure out where they are and how big there it's it's some hold complicated. Science thing that we it's minute. Ton of time talking about. But it's. But that confront they have confirmed they actually saw this planet about a year or so ago or two. But now after looking at it and carefully measuring they have confirmed that yes. That's where it is and they have since they have started this. This thing via the Kepler mission. It was launched in 2009. They're serving in a portion of the Milky Way for habitable planets. It's about 64 million miles from earth this word is they launched it so it's scanning from that far away to see the the distant stars and looking for the drops in the stars' brightness that's how they checked the rotation. But it has discovered more than a thousand planets. Since then twelve of those are Kepler sized. Wallach foe for Tubal we're gonna call this earth senior one of our super sports people not Christian Garrett just came in I think with some saints. New splash. She had junior Colette. According to local world reports now has been released by saints is coming on the heels of you know to off field incidents torture he met with the National Football League so. Right before training camp the saints have come on wanna do I guess. Get this issue resolved for awhile and now we see it in a culmination of the release due to a pretty good pretty big move considering. They extension they gave him lash or been a lot of money okay wow I'm sure he'll have much more on this later OK also on sports talk to it's still nothing about Tom Brady's announcement. Oh my gosh. It's a Friday showed up here and now you can do that fifth. Anyway I'm sure they will have much more on non. Via human drizzle had gone become. Gone on OK but I like that we're gonna have Earth's senior ya I could have been winning isn't passing. He gets a little bit older than earth that's what they're saying by a couple of billion years so that's what we got our older cousin all excited about Pluto and the and the great pitchers that they took put. Paula was literally and that's what the furthest away via for process is for hours and Arnold long. Group of planets and at that took one was. Seven years something like that he gets here get the probe. And that's 114100. Light years I guess we're not the party's hundred years now we won't be I don't think obesity well the pins they're launching another sternum and we will get to amusement their launching. In another system to go out that its third take pictures in 2017. A planet hunting satellite cult deaths. That's going to be able to provide scientists with more details on the size mass and atmosphere is all of these. Planets are like this so it's it's very exciting wow. As is the rest of the stabler hope you'll stay with this so let's go to the newsroom find out what what is going on but we'll be back with much more trending financial under the February. And we are training with David Lincoln town Manassas and would you believe it is actually I think less than three months. From a gubernatorial. Primary how was that. Site in it hit me the same way when I first learned of it earlier this morning why it. And then yeah and I don't know why of course we we all know we've got this election coming and but but where the ads where is the the fiery speeches packed I would think at least a couple of debate. They actually had a couple not so much debate as well our panel forum yet right there to know that. But your right David it is quiet. For Louisiana it's it's very unusual now we went course or political experts try to get some idea what's going on here of course there are saving money. That's always important to but as we have known for a number of months. David better still. Leading in the polls that he certainly would be the Republican. Out front in this race and then Jon bill Edwards on the democratic side and he's still polling well so it's almost like. At least as far as reacts birds they have no narrowed it down to those two that's that's what they see an hour in a runoff situation. But in the meantime we still plenty of other. Valid and strong contenders that are out there but we're not hearing much from home. The promises we will and probably starting next month we're gonna start to see things really start to grind and and and ended September. You know it'll can really kick. Yeah not perhaps part of the reason is because it was a very contentious difficult legislative session. And there's a lot of focus on that justice and of course Jay Darden is running loot our lieutenant governor. And and others involved in in them. Government on gel so it just it may be that what skip through this and then as the heat of the summer let's wait to embodies back and then. Yeah your right all of a sudden it's gonna jump. They say they're a Telesis and a lot of behind the scenes stuff going on. People working some social media and the campaign people are in the background. Of formulating in making plans but it just hasn't I I would guarantee if you pearly walk down the street. Your New Orleans and you assess folks you know above the governor I don't think they can tell you. But they were I really don't I don't on Monday he should do a man on the street might just do that you're running for governor I don't mind. And speaking of the governor we should mention that he has been in Lafayette he was their last night and today and is sort of keeping vigil. He has got he got served real quick and the and I think that was good two. Show his concern then and asking the entire state in the nation in the world. To pray for the XP yes. But modest move on to. A little Anthony Davis. Yeah I ESPN. That comes reporting that the pelicans apparently signed Kendrick Perkins. Two men tour Anthony Davis now Anthony davis'. Arguably the second best basketball player play in the NBA behind LeBron James many people feel that's where he belongs second or third against their staff curry. In that mixed Kendrick Perkins with a pretty solid basketball player but you know not really at his peak but he wasn't a superstar. However he's been in the NBA a little bit longer than Davis eight seasons. Compared Anthony davis' three and it looks like from all. Sources that we can see ESPN's source says that he's been brought in two men tour. The future. MVP of the league which would be. Anthony Davis. Sources told espn.com the Perkins of the pelicans were finally met deal. And we're gonna bring him in and for one year contract. And they've been at a veteran's minimum to help minter. Anthony Davis that's what they said so. Not that you know Anthony Davis looked good this last year you played very well unified think he's matured nicely in the unit in the NBA but. To have a veteran in I guess to show him the ropes who wasn't. You know the big a big superstar but just a grinder and say this is what you needed every day in and kind of be that mentoring role. My big thing and we could probably seed may be even more from Anthony Davis and I know the new coach is hoping to get a lot more out of him this season as well. So I think that's a very Smart idea and and you know it's their commitment to him as he has shown such a commitment to Republicans. And as you use the word grinder and I've heard from a number of people of the new guy coming on board is it. As he is a grinder yeah he's known for gay men and under that bucket and really get in his way. And that's gonna help give us some muscle twosome took a double and and that's at that helps get you know bring up Anthony Davis's game and I guess it just a mantra in the show him. What he needs to do to re. That next level. Well we're gonna take another break but when we come back again more trending and something about what this is the same it's hard to read this. A stay with us we'll be right back on Angela. With David Blake and Todd and activists again back with David Blake cannot Todd as we look at what's trending on this very hot today in what it is. It's also about very hot cars. United is and you know we think about this big heat has been gripping this for weeks now is being maybe a New Orleans kind of thing but no the entire state. Of Louisiana has been suffering this summer for weeks and weeks of this potentially. Dangerous hate. And then we hear from emergency crews all over Louisiana. That they have been responding to literally hundreds of calls about children. Locked in cars and that's been in during the summer in this heat way. Now some of those. Were easily handled it may be a little misunderstanding. Somebody you know went into the convenience store for an editor whatever others have been. Just devastating. And where windows were smashed. People were in tears kids were grabbed. At a reporter. That I talked to the other day you do have peace where he went out with a with a Bonnie monitor. That they set him up with him put him inside a car. And in twenty minutes. He was already hitting body temperatures this was nowhere anything you know in a in him with the windows closed. That were like over a 104 degrees. In less than twenty minutes and a child it would happen even faster than. And and they literally fry it is horrible. And it and I know everyone says it was no excuse for that weathered the parents were playing in the the year casino plan the casino drank and whatever they Horry just forgot. Remember the story we had not too long ago with the whole family that came on from the grocery York. And the way for kids other kids and they all unpack the groceries and then left again and on the clock. Anyway and there have been other cases in our area where one particularly just it's tragic because. You guy going to work. Has the baby in the backseat is just probably focused on work go to work. In the comes out now completely on my gosh yeah I'm not. But what we have to be hyper alert. In extreme cases like. Yeah we really do in May and we are overall feeling that we know does take long even with the air conditioning on it. You know so human somebody about animals. Yet I ran Mathieu I think it was last week set out a video about people leaving dogs. In their cars and he actually did a video of the former honey badgers now the Arizona Cardinals. Where he filmed himself in the car getting hot and just how hot it was and how quickly it was. And an attribute it for the SP CA or Peter what do they wanna via yeah. But to show that hey don't leave you in your cars and and he actually I think at the window cracked. A little bit like people normally do for a dog that they leave a yacht though thirty show had will be okay temperature how hot it's still got them. Well I think one of the most graphic things I've ever seen is the police dog. Left in the car by his partner the police manned. And it was a violent. Reaction by that dog trying to survive. Which said his death was horrible. For that car apart. And I really and I've been very vocal on this that dog was a partner. To that man. And I don't think that men should remain on the police force and I've said that before I think it's all wrong. Bad bad case very bad case very Beckett OK let's move on let's move on to the saints. Well now be at the breaking news from Kristian garic that the saints are released a junior go led this. May make this story even more relevant the saints are picked as one of the quote hard to read teams. For a 2015 by nfl.com and some of the analysts. Gill Brad analyst Gil Brandt says the Eagles and the saints. Remain his two biggest mysteries for this 2015 season. He says the saints who traded away two significant offensive pieces and Jimmy Graham and Kenny stills. They want is there wondering what this onetime aerial juggernaut is gonna look like and when he fifteen they're gone Mort or ground game they think. And then of course the defense what will it look like. And so there they're kind of a mystery right now there than not sure. What this point fifteenth saints are gonna look like mark Sessler. Who last year picked the saints to go to the Super Bowl gnome. His say is are the saints still psyche or are they super this year. And I he again doesn't know he says he looks at the team heading in this. Training camp. He thinks the offensive changes that they have made going from the high flying air show to the clock grinding. Ground game which is what most people suspect with the changes we made in the off season. That will help them. Be a better team light. Tony Romo and the cowboys last year Tony Romo looked great because he didn't throw as much in. They get that they got the ground game going but again. There's still questions about the defense that's what they're worried about how that defense going to look. This year will it be what we saw the first year that Ryan was here or will be what we so last. You when you go to training camp that just as a fan what do you really seek. You don't really see much I mean you see drills you see you see them practicing I mean a lot of the the big stuff that they're gonna practice the actual. Thing plays and things. Gonna put the game those are closed bracket yet brought on Bernardo that's not gonna dollar for anybody out there and it's ago NC legitimacy and run drew those legacy of do things with pants without pads and you know its its its practice it's what is now watching your high school football team bracket is basically what it is it's practice. And don't let these guys like these this man is riding out from what he can see where they're what they're speculating on is the moves that they made in the offseason. By getting rid of your two big. You know receiving. Threats. And you pick up CJ Spiller and bring them some more guys on the offensive line in a new Saturn assent to make that line better. It looks like you're gearing up. To be Iran pounding. Office with Mark Ingram and CJ Spiller and Kyra Robinson those three guys. That's what it looks like you're setting up that doesn't mean Sean Payton do that no but that's what it looks and then going you said the questions about the defense I think and he. You know look at and all the experts and and the guesswork brits they're all doing at this time of year. And no different than the fans. Many of these players that enter our brand new to circumstance that we don't know whether you can really do and I didn't seem seemed placed on or else. And then we have of course that the rookies and the big question marks going on there are so. I think it is it's it's kind of exciting because it is so mysterious to me when you look at other teams have done this the Denver Broncos. John always two Super Bowl wins. Came on the fact when they restructured the team and went more to the ground game then the aerial assault when you generally quarterback who's in the last couple years of his. His pro career. It helped him look better it helped him do things better and he was able to win those two. Super bulls basically what they ground game so maybe that's what they're doing a round Drew Brees it's fun times ahead I think that's the bottom line yes no one knows what's in shopping house mine until we see it on the on the field. Stay with us everyone we're not done we'll be right back. And it has been quite a trending today on mine and we just wrap it up with what's happening at parents. Yup well. The smoking ban. Waved before it was approved adopted by you know City Council the mayor. The folks at Harris said no no no don't do this to looses it's gonna kill our business. You smokers love to gamble and gamblers love the smoke and and here we go well. Two months in a row now the monthly take for terrorist has taken on a pretty big yet. Now is suggests that we're in the swoops armor monster right now in the heat somewhere probably say that. But in June of 2015. Last year in the month of June. Hair is made about nine point two million dollars more. Than they did in June of this year. This is two months in a row now where they've taken what they considered to be roughly a 30% drop in revenue. That's a lot at and and of course they're blaming the smoking. Ban and you said you went by the other night so some people outside. And they were outside smoking and I'm sure they're gonna go wide backhand. So in other people who were smokers are making the adjustment yeah and perhaps there are smokers who said I'm not gonna go back but if they're they're really like him and they'll they'll show back up. The other deserved but I guess their complaint is they wanna be paying an over the slot machine with a cigarette TB to one odds that show back up not a I thank you David Blake I think Todd.

With 3 NFL teams relocating in just 2 years (Rams, Chargers and Raiders) are you worried about the future of the Saints in N.O.?
