Yes indeed sever five good for a while commit to first take here on saint radio WWL Saints and Cardinals today at 305. Walk a bit Steve core back into all the Christian Derek out here in Arizona University of Phoenix Stadium. Steve how are event. I'm doing good. I'm sure your loving that after a nice and sunny and dry and yeah actually it's cold steely his forties more than a nicer been nicer to be nice but paglia spending and the roof is. The rough is expected to be open for the knowledge of just perfect for that out there. Yeah nice sun shiny. Day but Steve obviously these does that matchup today between two teams. That our our O one particular the Cardinals that are under achievers thirteen to three year ago in the NFC title game I think if you measured. The frustration level the fan base between the Cardinals in saint I would think that the Cardinals would be much more frustrated because of the expectations. That they came into this season with I mean they were. They were my Super Bowl pick in the NFC Lola they are coming off that they're the three word. They were they were mine as well I'm really did a thought that this they were sort of sit right there in the catbird seat ready to take over that NFC you know top position and really their depth I just they disrupt that went tanks from from week one and and it was kind of shocking it's and that look up to tell you that that. That team right there. As good as Carson Palmer played last season. And he has really really struggled and then they've had a myriad of injuries and it just knocked him down and they just they struggled ever since. He players those lies outside shot at at making the post season so technically do the Saints but yeah I mean team that was thirteen to three largely considered to be one of the front runner in the NFC now. With the Saints and the reason I would say that Arizona's fans are more pressure than Saints fans mean. Is simply because I think most plugged in saint's days felt like yeah. In all likelihood night at seven attendance six would be over achieving they would Adam pay company at around 798 yeah that's why don't flush it however. You know considering that that would be a three straight years of a non winning season which sixer are bound to have now sit at five and eight I can understand the frustration lie. But who dat nation who'll win today Saints or Cardinals are pretty jaguar people online at W blog not cutting calls at 504. 260187. He can also Texas at 878 Seve on Twitter at saint sixty act crushing American. Also we did you break down this matchup still plenty on the lights even though he took it central new T Bob Ehrlich it will be Hoyer. Thought it there's a double coverage which is no benefits the Saints did to win or lose these final three games and we weren't saying that they were they're gonna take it and they shouldn't. I agree with that but I'm saying if you look at it. In the long term if they finish it you know say 511 or six and ten day you know higher draft. Look how. I understand that as well. I was picking at you but I'm just looking at it from a player standpoint I mean it just I don't know how you do that. And yeah and and that's really sort of my whole premise by saying today there's only one way to play this game and it's full throttle with. In every fiber that you have in your body and and every good effort that you can Muster up. That that's just a way that the athlete to think about game released at least that's used to be that way at least just think about the game I don't know. But I will tell you that that I don't know how you go into a game. Without that kind of mindset I don't know how you do that so when you say that. It might work out that way you know you still might play your very best and indeed the very best you can with the and give full effort me and what not and and come up short. And I've never really questioned our teams. Yeah stick to a goodness they've never they've never looked like they tanked it never looked like they quit. You know case in point a couple weeks ago I watched the Monday night game I think earth Thursday night game and it was suggested. And at the Lily looked like they stop playing I've the I was shocked watching that football game and really kind of disappointed in. And sort of sad at the same time that that some of the teams and some of the athletes in this league at this level of have chosen to do that. Here's why it's at its really dangerous for them to do that and in particular there's. Would you say are both squads Steve maybe this is an over reach a little bit but say handful five players on each roster that. Our may not play the National Football League again after these three games so. Z wood of seeing here where I don't think this is a public your resume is okay yeah I know you mean it. It's always players that that are if they're not going to be out of the football league National Football League but there are auditioning. Somewhere else that they put that tape out there that's why I don't see it happen in particular Tom. I just think it just being around this this group I know that they are professional enough team to out there and I just not just mail it well. You know you hope there's a sense of pride in each one of those guys and I'm sure there is a certain levels of it but. Nah not the fact that somebody else would see that this is the fact of knowing that you had in your own mind mean how could you looking so well here it's funny. I basket to look yourself in the mirror Christians really if you went out there and play game and you didn't play with every. Every fiber every bit of competitors that you can Muster on a lot you can do that and live with yourself but nevertheless. You know why. No you're right that you're. Your resume is on tape. And there's always a number guys in the bottom twenty or 25% of everybody's rosters fluid look at constant flux and so you hope when they will start look at tape that they'll ever see you quit. Any kind of situation there are sort of give a lack of effort in any part because of certain. Now that pretty much caution off pretty much to that point pretty quickly. If you blacklisted at that point media and I'm not limit him as if you're marginal player. At least he's not gonna you know look if you're one of those guys it might be marked lights to the garden here. I love to tell you this though even if you're if you're not a Marshall player even if your guy that so that's a veteran they're gonna say what in the hell is happening you. You know how in the world did you get to your level and do you did and now all of a sudden. You're playing with a Cadillac effort or lack lackadaisical not really given your best I don't know like that and that makes you question it. First take your Steve court crushing Garko that go inside the trenches and number one defense and the National Football League awaits the Saints today and University of Phoenix Stadium in. A sputtering saints' offense six interceptions from Drew Brees zero touchdowns in the last two. Ball games this WL and -- from the dugout Saints and Cardinals today 57 and one for the cards five and 84 New Orleans real five kick off right here with Jim Anderson at Deuce McAllister welcome back first take Steve court back into all of a crushing Erica out here in Arizona in the desert University of Phoenix Stadium one of my favorite stadiums in the National Football League they did this right just discount and eat there any place. Yeah that's that is nice place I got to play there right when the Cardinals left from Saint Louis and when they were a St. Louis Cardinals in old Busch Stadium. And they moved Arizona and we typically the first pre season game in that Sun Devil Stadium when they. You know in the National Football League it was a first pre season game of the on the forget it. And it was about I don't know maybe. August. 3 or something like that and it was a night time games thank god. But he kick off it was a 112. Yeah I remember that has given it a try yeah Australia will try to he would get social convection oven so stick your head and of maternal and don't if it's if it's modern not. The I gotta go into tricks here with four saves ovitz elevenths the court Steve. Let's start with his Arizona Cardinals front that can flat out get after pacers' number one in the NFL total defense. Let's start with their their fun biggest State's office of Latin should have maxed out. He had back this week it's you know when you kind of look at these guys and and and what they've done. Frostee Rucker in place Campbell and those guys been around while Corey Peters and and Chandler Jones the former. New England guy. But yet I'm telling these guys can can flat get it done and they don't have to do anything special. To put any pressure you know on the passers they can they can only Steffi on the round and on the way to the passer that's what they're doing their stuff and you know on the run on the on the way to the passers so. Yet they can get it done defensively and looked it'll give up. The other 201 yards that they give a passing c'mon that's that's that's an excellent. Points I think they give up what 21 points and that's about it and and really rushing yards and to do in Europe a hundred. So it's this this is going to be this can be taught it's gonna be you know number one offense against number one defense it's going to be fun to watch. There's no question but. You know to do it the way were playing right now I'm so sure match up well against them. Yeah and then go back get to match ups in the second overall from. Office for the defense a lot of seeds struggle offensively but. I'd say it's funny it's the Cardinals it's an area they've had a hard time protecting Carson Palmer this year. Well they haven't and use that as good as they were last year they've definitely taken out of the keys this may be first or second most you know sack guy in the league at this point. So does hold the ball well he does you know in an again he is good as he was last year he he is stumble this year but usually not his fault. He's not get a whole lot of time and and really. You know if his steady Eddie guy is is you know is is Larry FitzGerald and and really they they know that but at the same time. You know those offensive guys and they dated Nelson the guys its you know you got to watch him because he can hurt you bad you know from the standpoint that John brown and and a and those kind of guys that really their biggest tool in Aruba noses David Johnson I mean to me he's the best running definitely hands down at this point. Literally has been all year long you can pretty much turnaround and the ball off to him and they go with it. Their offensive line at this point is better run blocker than they are special excuse me as an impasse blocking. So. Looked at it's that's tough but we it's that we have to manufacture some past Russia has got to pick our defensive front. As done that the last few weeks they've there relaxed again on last several weeks they think they begin to sort of bring them a little bit so today would be a great did she didn't get that done. So we talked with that one offense in the more defense they say it's only that it won office and the Cardinals haven't won defense. But the Saints here lately haven't played like it more often so they have scored touched I don't know he. Two weeks now and now you're right in and look debts that's troubling because there's a copycat league and I can tell you right now that Bruce Syrians as sharp as he is. And he knows all about Sean Payton right thing it's so. Looked at their watches tape just like everybody else does and they're saying okay we're we're start to see some of the chinks in the armor here that that Saints have offensively and and that. And we're trying to system at this point so. They know breezed into what he does what he does best and Nelson they know where his his his weaknesses are so. You can rest assured that they're going to be put pressure on that big time today. Did you win Stephon Anthony are what Sean Payton had to save us up on Anthony member last week he got the start over great Robertson. With a shoulder injury and down now this week he's been ruled out with a knee injury but. Wanna play for you what Sean Payton said in a conference call earlier in the week about us the funniest thing I do. Some of the things that are Burton this player. He's explosive. He's disruptive in yet his keen diagnosed in losing stinks at times are off. You know it's wrong and he's dropping back in a pass mode or its past. And he's at the line of scrimmage. So his ability to see. Been diagnosed. Some very simple. Reeves for instance or the keys for him to get better and I think you know he was able to do a little bit more that the other night but that's that's been the thing that's that's kept him back. And quite honestly it kept him back on special teams because a player like him. Who's who's on special teams have discovered a kicker covered upon generally. The guy that can run and hit shows up and then he's been. I would say just OK in that area so I was encouraged with the other night on defense that we just keep working on. Think about what you just heard there from Sean Payton who in the media is never really going to. Be that candid about a player but he said the things that are hurting this where he's at simple reads are off. And also he has his knee injury this week aces on pace in the bridle little insight on on on the center on Friday saying that. He reactivated from you know something from about a year ago or so and does a first round dropping is a part of the Jimmy Graham trade and just hasn't worked up we he's got twelve tackles him this year as it as a as a first round draft pick anyone outside. Two players to compete with him of that position. And the guys you signed as it was was thought to be a special team player ended up being the better of those two of about Craig and Robert and over James Laurinaitis. And and when you say we would Sean Payton says something like that. At least me to believe that he's done with this with with what's that well it's it's certainly sounds like you he's not he's he's on his way to being dealt with a much I can tell you this that. The expectations of a first round draft choice are just that they their plug and play kind of guys and they really don't need. Wanna say a lot of coaching from the standpoint of instincts in stinks is it you got and you don't Christian and and look. In the college football game is is vastly different to think there's not a lot different than it is in the pros but it's a lot different the pros is a lot faster. The execution is a lot more precise and it's just a different football game. And I can tell you that he's have a problem as a linebacker and in recognition. The standpoint of we pass or run. Is that fixable. Look it's gonna take it's it's about the player and he's gonna have to find. A way that works for him as far as keys now he can work with his go to find out what keys are. But he's gonna have to be a guy that's gonna have to study tape and figure out. And what it is that he sees that ply his instincts are off of what he's seen in this that is taking him out you know he's taking himself out here so. I'm he's gonna have to sort of figure that out and and that's that's film study and biscuit in the playbook. And that's also no one know what you're doing on the field and being aware of of what is the down and distance all that kind of stuff comes into play here and your smartest football players. Are your best football players. And you know that and I think any time he's you see that you have guys that are great instincts in them when they follow up that great instinct with the fact that they can study a playbook and getting it. And know exactly what they're doing now is that you got the makings of a great football player but you got anything less in this league. You're gonna fall by the wayside and I think you may have just we himself out here. Yeah and look it's it's rusher and a levels because I think some would ask the ones that are plugged it would ask how does that go on notice when you're evaluating him. You'd tape study before you draft does that go out arena. You know it goes under because a lot of times I can tell you that. You get sort of enamored with a guy who win the guy moves and how physically is but I have to keep in mind in perspective that he's planning its college football players. Okay so you try to project him it's OK okay he'd still do that at this at this next level. And a lot of times when you're just guess and on that you're hoping that he can you could open and he can assimilate into pro. Fumble sometimes you miss that's just a mess. Fuller dropped a 5042601870. Taxed 870 eights of a silly Steve forego at a news do you think it's like. It's beyond repair our you think they can they could fix it and able. Pietrus well you know I don't know that I don't know if he's if he's just mentally Boston because he just can't learn it or is he he's got something else going on that's that sort of blocking him from understanding. Sometimes guys need a little bit of extra coaching or away coach does it look and maybe you know maybe Jovi has to be needs to sit with him for awhile. Is that the problem is they'll have a lot of time Christian with a guy especially during the season. To say coming here we got to study by two time here and we got to spend some I got a spent another hour you. On some recognition stuff so that you can sort of get to stay out it's up to the player to do it. And and really it's a player doesn't have the wherewithal to sort of say a I need to get in your study this and find out what it is that's keeping me from state you know get on the football field on the on the steal and starting lineup because he came in. You know. A great he was all hell bent for leather when he was it when he was a rookie coming in here with Utley. That might be some good things happening I saw him over run a lot of stuff that's typical for a young guy. But nevertheless this recognition part of it needs to be focused and where he needs to get back to its OK I got to focus on what's in front of me. You know what my instincts and what are my keys one of the things that tells me not to watch the guards you have to look at their stances I have to look at the down and distance. Almost as if things come and have to have you know to play in these types of things he can't get it done. Then they'll find somebody did it looks like there Robertson already did. Steve court Kristian garic your first eight loss at Carnoustie deal come back about a report from CBS that seats might be looking to Russia Sean Payton out of town they would entertain at least the trade offer will see. A lot that next here on W employment daka I want about the first take Steve core crushing Derek here as you heard Donnie in the news headlines reports from CBS Jason Lockett for the seats and put up are expected to ask for much. To trade Sean Payton during the offseason this was he a member of the center of conversation last year Steve in. That's something ended up signing an extension or were team's going to make a play for Sean Payton in. With the Saints indeed trade him and they. Decided to keep them Indianapolis was one of those potential suitors but they decide to keep my five year contract extension in the off season and and now here we are here and again it's CBS. This and yes this does. Does he need that sound weird to you trading coach. I mean that's just college so weird I wish sounds weird to me I mean maybe I'm just old school on that and that just sounds really weird to me. To me unit players or players or coaches are coaches and they they're they're different in what they do and and what they mean to the organization yes I think it's weird to me. And it's a reality of the NFL they own the rights of that coach yeah I'm so if they were to do this. Look let's let's talk about com you know first off the report from Jason locked up for who's got a very good reputation. Four is accuracy etc. hum. In this evasive points out that aces league sources said the Saints at you know would basically be willing to. Consider this in it would take a lot to get Sean Payton out of sync with what what did you. Mean do you know that means when do wouldn't pick a lot what does that mean like I don't I don't know like on what's nonaligned maybe it would be if it maybe would be 21 round draft picks that Jon Gruden was traded for from Oakland to Tampa Bay like nets. That was the conversation it hit big guys they you know are at this at oak it was 21 round picks now. Couple things now that I think are worth pointing out here in this particular sharp pains. Spent a lot of time in California he's born in. Naperville Illinois put spent a lot of time grown up in California not to mention. His daughter goes to Pepperdine University which is thirty miles away. From Los Angeles. It's been in particular he's got a young quarterback there he would have Il quarterback there that it's a big market the Los Angeles market which I think that that would be the only thing that would. Temp Sean Payton go elsewhere because of the fact that it's Los Angeles. It's you know it's glitz and glamour and if you win out there you Mario let me ask you marketing. Let me ask you question answered tournament. Okay they trade him so what do they do the other coaches to let him fill his own staff please or coaches or do they say you're coming to work with a coach Zorn had a how to how does that work. Well I think that if you're trained horse if you're the rant that you were to trade in his again hypothetical so. I invite the audience to understand we're we're just kicking some areas around here but. If the if you trade a form I think you give him the autonomy delay to bring your staff now the Saints to block some of that like if they have an attention hiring somebody on the staff to be no the head coach war or at least they wanna keep a player that aren't as I mean coaches on a contract they can. Prevent Sean Payton from necessarily doing that for example like if they'd. If they did not want Pete Carmichael junior to leave as the offensive coordinator mark he's under contract. Been that they can prevent that so yes shall be a lot there though it. And symbols on staff if that were to come to fruition if this trade were from the which. What I wonder though is that amicable things you know as Saints fans would you be OK with that you alright with. Let me ask music Christian well. We get better at this point where where do you where were you look at us out of our roster here and say okay. Do we find that can come in and get us over the over the top you know we're we're looking for and what our expectations are this team. Well I don't know. Every year the league sends out two teams in December they send out. Pay coaching candidates. Assembled by. The coaching advisory committee that consists of guys like Tony Dungy and a few others guys that know the regular John Madden etc. And on that list like one of the top names on that this year and year out is Josh McDaniels from Italy the Patriots along what Matt Patricia the defensive coordinator of the New England Patriots are right now. It's a widely considered it Josh McDaniels is gonna come around in the New England he's turned down a couple opportunities for interviews last year. He's gonna hang around and be the heir apparent forward Bill Belichick steps aside and New England will take over now. Matt Patricia is a guy that is his Garner a lot of attention the last couple years as to being a potential. Head coach kid about will rule one out offer though is you know I've got that question on Twitter responded to these reports are talking about from. State fans will we get that would be better and that's why you wouldn't trade him while at this Ike I understand that but if if you if your organization. In the year if you shopping and you feel like it's time to reset pressed the reset button in your career and also the organization. The knee unilateral Dyson will be in Ottawa look back on me that you'd sort of words don't pay I was on what I understand that to get a shot it was a proven that 2060 when they are. I know I cannot understand that it I think what it is once we got to that level. On now all of a sudden you feel OK Sean Payton is a great coach and getting the coach of the year and all kind of stuff and everything was was great. And then all of a sudden you know. It that's the part about it is yet to realize that a lot of times. It's not coaches it's players that kind of dormant coach from time to time now I'm not saying anybody on this team is skilled John Clayton okay. But to start looking that you think you know pay the conglomerate of a things happen in this league can certainly turn that against you and that's just the nature of this business. I mean look there's all kind of good coaches ago Farrell time. There's guys there's guys look Schottenheimer got fired you what would you do he went and put fourteen in two. You know it was sort of made it run its not exactly so but fourteen into your fiery guy. I mean that's that's pretty strong but hey that's the San Diego at that point wanted to do but look I get it but it to Mia. I don't know I think there's always there's there's there's new coaches come in I guess you gotta try amount and see if it's gonna you know they're gonna stick or not but. It seems to me like any time you look good either. A Belichick coached. A team that has their you know their staff of coaches. They always they lose coaches all the time to the people. You know it's just like Nick Saban Alabama you can keep his coaches if they lose them all the time because of of how successful they are to say they would Belichick. Would you be OK with him explore the idea if there's any ability to this report which you guard with as an organization is are you obligated to at least listen to. The potential of another team like Ossetia and you always. I think you always got to listen to I mean I and that does everything you have to listen to as I think you have to. You know whether or not it's merit do you that you feel like it's something that's that's justifiable or. Or are valuable to you then that's a story that but I think you certainly have to listen to it. Now what well what I wanna offer use for those that might say okay. While on the fence as to whether it's safe should it this report is as accurate if they say should explore this opportunity to pull the trigger on this opportunity. Yet to ask yourself Israel simple in terms of come to a conclusion. Arriving at an answer as isn't a good idea that is do you truly believe that. After three years of not winning seasons force our shot lead the saint do you think he's the guy that can rebuild it back and he he built that wants. I've got to Super Bowl they've they've they've fallen off some tough times and do you believe that he's the guy to Italy to back in the day in the right direction and if if your answer. You know is suggesting that you don't even export this agreement you know you don't even do it but if you feel like. That he's not going to be O ever regain our recapture his mode joke then they need to make this move could I think you free up forty million dollars of cash and not to mention a year after Drew Brees leads what's you know if you got to get extended again your freed up those 25 million dollars that could. You go along way in he. Infusing the talent pool it rebuilding a team today and look if you pull this group though here's how I feel. If you pull this move. Then it's it's a sure fire side that you aren't fully to rebuild mode. Well there's no question I think at this point I guess you kind of went to look at them just now switching gears here in trying to think of a different perspective on it and you know I guess maybe Sean Payton knowing that you know number nine is not going to be here very long. Maybe it is time now is if this might be a good time to get going someplace else and you know a lot of times at a change of environment it is in an atmosphere. Is the only good for a player but he certainly can I'm sure cuts both ways because for coach so. Made it may be what he needs you know I don't know that's it's different it's it's a different perspective for sure. Well we it's it's like Led Zeppelin. The song remains a say the song remains the same for the Saints right now chart date which. There they're not winning and have a winning season and you're seeing these reports surface year after year about his. And it is possibility the possibility of him being traded to another team will. Will be followed this all through the rest of the season and by a couple weeks. Into January as the post season rolls on one which seem to map be participating and George on a cellphone you to a 5042601870. Text 877 back to your phone calls on first take your WW respond to a report this morning from CBS Jason Lockett for the Saints might be willing are are not expected. And advisories are not expected to ask for much. To trade Sean Payton during the offseason if teams come call that particular. The Los Angeles Rams who Steve Christie stay strong keep the owner needs to make a splash he's given to open a new stadium at Inglewood. It's got him that a fan base that is kind of checked out after an abysmal season and we know how. Los Angeles has failed to grab on a football in the past in terms of if you're out witted out there there's oil. Things to do if you're not good they're not showing up if you're pretty you're pretty you know. You're pretty viable you know they'll pack it up there but I tell you that when I remember that the back in the LA Rams days and weeks to go out there. You know back in the pack at the old NFC west days. I had good football teams you know they packed at Anaheim stadium and win again when they weren't very good and they. Spotty. Yeah that's why. You know the the reports are all not. Not all that surprising to Elena talk eventually but they're not all that surprising in terms. You know he could see where. The attraction would be held on the rim aside George on a cell phone you're on WWL secret it was what a torch. Yeah thing is confident goes somewhere oh and you can't say that. Play is you know coaches only the kind of coach Tuesday qualified and let us play is Kaelin. George Paton. Did that same note that they're not gonna get votes which on Peyton as a head coach. You would be a great offensive coordinator and what's gonna happen when he goes to programs. You go wrong right Williams who did the only good thing Peyton like well there's two football. That those guys are sort of at odds maker sort of I don't know of it. Yeah I'm thinking that same thing when we started talking about you know as you can keep the autonomy keep it staffers we have to committed as well again. Well it would not done that and tell you that. He had no idea tea if that were to happen if he were to go to LA the first guy he's firing is Gregg Williams the first guy. And it doesn't make a mistake in his coaching career. Yeah well. First and has to happen yet and has even happened yet this is a report. Little house stated it is I'm sure Sean Payton I know Sean Payton is going to be asked about this after the skate today and I can pretty much predict his interest and be oh that's another splash report.
