Since the latest on addiction and barriers to. It's an annual event that teaches budding young entrepreneur nor is the power of business and business skills. It is the annual preliminary data Louisiana. The seventh annual a lot of money is just around the corner we're joined by Larry Gibbs CEO of Gibbs construction. And this year's New Orleans lemonade de Louisiana city champion. Good morning thanks to being with that's good morning Monica first of all before we get into the dates and everything how do you become involved with eliminate de Louisiana. Well I was today with it since not when he can when Todd Graves and John Georges started. And both of those a friend of mine and they actually do it this year and I was proud to participate what makes it's a special in your opinion. Well in my opinion. Inspiring and teaching children. Young people or the most all terroristic thing you can do to best thing you can do. And we all learn stuff in school every day and we try to put that you'll work and life. But experiences so much better than knowledge. I mean knowledge is important but your experiences to make your emotions in village of courage. And they have the experience of open up your own lemonade stand selling lemonade and making a profit. Is it tremendous thing for a young person but he's a tremendous thing for older person to but the opportunity to do that. Can create a lot of confidence in his send person young person on the career path as can be unbelievably successful so it's you'd be a small part of such here. Tremendous operation I'm very proud helped. You're the CEO of gifts construction is very very successful our guest is Larry gift. How do you get your start did you always have entrepreneurship bond as a young man. He has a good question and part of the answers to reason I'm doing lemonade day. When I always you know just like every other kid I did I didn't know what I wanted to do my life. But I knew like the Michael Google and I elected by bicycle and I knew I had to work. And I had a place to cut a cut grass and button Orleans east. A series avenue. Through papers and that was a barbershop and shined shoes at Borussia. And I did all of those things at the same time I played baseball and had a lot of fun grown up. And I really think those experiences that I had. Not the knowledge but the experience that I had. Doing those things and and and make it money being successful. Being a failure at times inland that's not the end of the world. Those things laid the foundation for me is so against construction. Thirty years later. And again I think tremendous success story congratulations to you on that. The numbers keep. Growing more than 25000. Children expected to participate in this year's lemonade day so far a 100000 why do you think the numbers keep growing because they do produce a benefit you because touch children from four to twelve. Very formative years and probably who are very intimidated by itself on and listen all I'll eliminate two person. And when they face their fears it's like all of us that faced affairs and this is just a pretty. And all of a sudden they've built courage and as simple and trite as that may sound SL a glass of lemonade. It can have a tremendous effect so I think is successful because it is growing and because it produces good and I think that that good that confidence reflection every aspect of that life. And let's face it not I was gonna have made lemonade stand for Correia. But that's still way to start a career and you gotta have story and that's a good place to do it. But also Bob this year any particular kick off day I know that there's also a special day that's also set aside as well well may is fixed his lemonade day. And every day up to may sixth is is opportunity. For a parent to encourage that children for teachers to encourage their students. To a friend X they're in encouraged another friend to participate. And it should not a tried it is very can be a life changing event naturally well I'd like to look at it. And so every day is. Of a day of preparation for May six on May the sixth. When you see eliminate an adult books by lemonade stand by some lemonade encouraged a boy. That's the other girl that's for the help them grow help them become a better person help them believe in themselves. And this has the opportunity to do it. We have an aid lemonade day tasting contest on April 29 at the audobin zoo. And there's opportunity for all the kids to go to the zoo register you can register for lemonade day at the zoo. At that opportunity. Is in the gifts as going to be him you learn how to make lemonade July and had a taste lemonade so as you can be a great day a fun that's a couple of days before. The actual lemonade day. You can also go to lemonade day dot com Louisiana. And register or you can go to came raising cain's restaurants and you can reddish hair raising Cain restaurants. When you register you can I add raising canes and other locations around the city you can pick up the backpack and a backpack is an entrepreneur or a workbook. That tells you how to become a lemonade out of an hour and what do you have to do. What we try to do with the profits are you gonna borrow. Money from an investor and a chow will probably be that parent. They can help them put a lemonade stand together. When you sell you gonna put a product is seller obviously the morning because you feel that a with a profit. That profit we encouraged kids to do three things with the one. Open up the child savings account used saves account at the local bank and deposit the money and then be happy to do that it doesn't cost anything it's a great first start. We also encourage you to. We'll keep a give back to the community in some way some small way by a friend of glass eliminated. Give warranty of parents obviously thanked investing in your parents who's gonna do this and the other third of the profit you can spend on yourself go to a movie. Michael could do it you wanna do with it that's so it's it's it's an overall great program. Teach you how to make a dollar and how to spend a dollar and be a part of the community while you don't well that's fantastic in again that these are skills let pneumatic UConn is that an occupant nor a successful business person or not. They are like scales every business from my business to Microsoft. Raising Cain is restaurants. John Georges enterprises they all start the same way. It's producing a product that saleable. For and sell at a price last you have to produce important ask all the profit was a wonderful thing that's what makes the world go around that will make his radio station exist. So it's it's not a bad thing it's a great thing it helps to. The world to move forward in people's lives to fulfill your dream of making dreams come true basically you become rich to be a blessing to others you come enriched is rich and in arrangements are reached without. Me and enriches. But don't come enrich. Very optimistic when and a where you're legal. Thanks again for being with us Larry it's gonna put I think rim.
