And all members of our community and JJ Hendrick kind of look at the stars if you don't mind. Because when I was in the research we have you and we talk all the time that wild. All impact 1855. Yes. Straight deep deep roots here and remember because you have the two facilities. That's generated an application one like fish analysts esplanade and then our main campus is on Saint John's Seminary in the heart of count. This is a vision of a just it was going to be young he drew Weaver Amanda got together for there's just grown and why you promote. All the good aspects genius and it's also been some welcome and open. To all members doesn't matter race religion absolutely we are 100% to about tolerance. I am certainly we share our values and permit them within the community within our nursery school in our summer camps. That we have programs. For all ages for all races or religions everyone is welcome at the JCC and I think that's what beach is so unique that I knew that from personal experience. Not followed. People from all over it I mean in terms of ethnic groups all the talks. But from all age groups. Tiny tiny and in babes in arms all the way to friends while will not name because she liked the fact that she's in her late eighties. But are there is it really runs the spectrum. We do we have programming we'll have Tyler social club on the weekends where. Member families come and play on our wonderful play hard and get to know each other and start to build that community as there entering a new phase of life in the we have. Allison's wonderful alzheimer's program. Which is great but it's a respite programs that allow us caretakers and break. And it allows. Arms are members of our cryptic comment and participate and to be social. And and to get out of the house and to stretch their minds and they also have really enjoy sing a little and running around champ. Say it seems she's she's she's been where those great partner agencies can just adapt would be the ECB needs in the community and within your membership. And then they go about changing to meet those needs I think Brian that we've talked about before. Yes and our staff is constantly looking at what the needs are not only in our immediate neighborhood communities but also within. New Orleans proper just to be able to meet those needs and provide that those services to people. And that we often we are talking before the program that would come we have you on about this time here because. Of all the wonderful things are going on the average ACC we'll try to touch bought it and it is possible. But think about the time your particular because of all the wonderful things. Four children youth and families. Involving summer camps the swimming pool and swim to safety just. Such a myriad of activities. To really get in shape stay in shape and just feel good. Yeah so our our summer camps are getting ready to get into high here obviously with school landing. And our schools as well our our pool at our matter facility will open in April. I am uptown we're going through a major renovation where where I'm building three new outdoor pools so that's going to be a major expansion. And those will be ready by the end of may early June. So a lot of planning going on a lot of people trying to to get in and be part of a kind of a new chapter in our life for there are uptown facility. And then continued programming in Metairie. Well let's talk there about the scruples because it we are we by the use this term for over that is the south we're always surrounded by water. But it's nice to be safe in water so that is something that I remembered not only children and adults having fun. But the very serious aspect of learning how to swim. Right we have. Long storied program. Where we teach vote children and adults learning happens when. And one of the factors behind building new schools including in a small indoor pool. Was to be able to provide those services all your long. So no matter where in the summer we one of the pulls out the world will be heated so it'll be available odds individuals all throughout the years as well as our indoor pool. So it was a real focus it's a real need in this community not only we you know flooding him like you said the Venice. Aspect of New Orleans. But it's just programming that we can offer on continual basis as opposed to seasonal which is what we've had in the past. So it's pretty get your you're learning to save your life at Harvard also recreational everybody. Can hear no very few ads but that way you don't wanna get doable now. And a hot summer in Iraq is great exercise. Absolutely. What let's can we talk a little about that too because. While the superlatives. When you go over it dude he's easy. The fitness center all the different things and into JJ realities weigh in on the spot it's also fair but. All the good things again for all age groups and particularly because and a little. Maybe involved. A group or the constant our seniors stay fit stay healthy as well. Again as a service is provided for everything from children up into. Any age group songs are able bodied and able to do that and we offer over eighty class is currently at both locations. And I'm looking to expand that you know the with a poor expansion we're also doubling the size of our fitness center. Outer uptown location so they'll be a lot more opportunities there. Dedicated. Rooms for group exercise and I indoor cycling and yoga and Pilates and you name it. As well as IR Metairie facility where we dollar RD have. You know. Over 25 classes they're both inclusive of water classes as well as classes in our group exercise studio. Personal training and we can really cater any sort of program to whatever the individual needs both you know what their interest in as well as. You made what their doctor with their husband or wife has suggested to them bad enough that they were confidence. Well that's certainly it is I think that beautiful kind of indoor track crowded in the matter facility here you've got all the different types of equipment. Some of the things I have no idea what they do which means I probably need to aren't. But it is it thank you all work and I think this is great with people who have had health issues as you said. They're positioned him as saying come over it's almost I would say it's physical therapy but it is physical activity right that they need. Yes not physical therapy based but we have worked with physical therapist when people get out of this programs and they didn't need to transition back to. Working out on their own and we have personal trainers second assists were back. The key is the knowledge of the staff you know we can kind of accommodate to whatever sort of means the community presents. And that's what we do we make sure our Stafford nationally certified and educated there there education is updated on an annual basis of that. We can provide the best service to whomever would comment. Yeah I was a bit as he went over and I've seen the juxtaposition. Total marching through a JJ you're there and then right across. And health class. PE class sorting is worth it. For our seniors and that it was wonderful because all of his original. Give him coming and coming and immediately it was standing room only. And that would've thought you needed cheer for the exercise now I think I've figured it was great. Just that so many people use the JCC. Has a place to to get healthy stay healthy be healthy. And that's one of the ways that united way is a great partner because we did Tom funding to be able to provide those services not only to our members but to anyone in the community that has indeed. You know inclusive of exercise and taking people that you know some are more able bodied some that are just gonna come and they're gonna sit on the chair and they're gonna do exercising their arms are gonna. Do a little party though they're gonna improve their wellbeing as it is wherever they are on the spectrum so it side's been a great our partnership. I allows us to provide transportation to those that may not have it I'm in the key is you know to get people and is number one to beat them which we do a lot of number two define things that are that their interest sedan and number three to have that social interaction that they have with those people there rage that are in programs together. And that it JJ you're not forgotten because it just a moment. It Friday without its bumps but the natural. Secondly it because we're talking about those older. We're alzheimer's is on the I dare say there aren't many people who were listening to this program state. Who don't know someone. Whose family has been touched. By alzheimer's and in the fact that you had this each program is just something that. I tell it like it is a miraculous. Those type of program what can do for family that we talk about. Sure sure area of our program now has been in existence for trying six years the one and first and yes yes we learn any highway was helped us get that rolling and we are specifically for people with alzheimer's disease or other dimensions and so what happens is folks come to the same terror and are there on Monday Wednesday and Friday where we provide opportunities for arts engagement. We also do it exercise piece because as you we've been talking how important that is for all of us to keep this bid and as healthy as we can and we. Patented children's nursery school who come in once a week until we have that engagement that's so unique and special for folks tune count her and we always have. A lunch activity where the folks actually prepare part of the lunch so that they can all contribute to the meal as well as to be productive and contribute to line up as an assistant head out of the socialization yet is it that way helping keep your mind sharp right I would really are trying to create a community where folks feel like they belong and I think that is reflected in the larger community -- CC but in an Asus well we did we do that and I'm Ken musicians who come and everyday we have some sort of music we try to incorporate arts we have a dance instructor now comes in only the Sundance so it's a really vital and important program not only for the people and it but for the family members who knows that their person is getting structured getting activity getting stimulation. That they can sort of rest easy knowing that and take that time sort of replenish themselves as they continue their care giving turn. That is really important because being the caretaker can be very difficult match. Mentally emotionally physically and to be able to have that respite to go into something as simple as go to the market are I didn't exactly get your head or done are just some. For it may be just taken out. Now he's like this. Are we who have not had to do. Don't realize just how important meal program might ease into it as catching you could address that is ever. Some time to yourself absolutely and we we also offer a caregiver support group. So that they look I think as you say we don't realize what it's like and but they do and then when they get together in this group. And I have to talk with each other and sort of I'm commiserate art to it you know it also to get sort of pat themselves on the back from good things that are happening as well pop it's an important piece for them to have that time together. So and is again it's a big tournament to learn and I don't use that term is a company but now you learning from each other something that they experience of the that you either. Have or may get on the roads and exchange. Our information. Think comfort to maybe hopefully smile or two absolutely absolutely I think it's very supportive and therapeutic for. The families to gather together and and because they understand what each of them is going yes I know that I didn't adjacency. Oh it's been well it was within days and I was invited to what you were doing lunch and do the cooking. And everybody getting involved and that's that special interest me and that is just really engaging. You you just saw. Some members who were there just really get excited. Let's go and helping each out there and right address it was good family earned her very much and I think I think you know what we want to make sure is that these are. Things that we didn't we provide activities that we do are adults and this is something that's useful and meaningful and certainly cooking out. Like that was right on and I think. We played everyone's strengths so everyone is doing what they can and contributing to each other so it is like a family in that respect. In that I would think it Albania to think once again thank you thinking of future AJ it irritate you photos and we'll talk Clijsters all kept walking down that long haul. So cute so cute and all there and it would have been up there you mean everything from. I guess cardboard costumes. To. Getting ready to go in and run and play. Gamer to urban models. This at the other but it's always something that's available. For children and friends who had their children. Go to GCC. From the time in day care or try out here all I care. All the way through and they said it's just it really does become a fat with the you're of the faith or not there's certain guiding principles. That really make you feel special when. He's got to share absolutely agree and I think community is hard that's part of what we do but you're right it's a family you. My children legitimize. The GCC experience they went there are fabulous nursery school. They all went through our summer camp my. Youngest. Has just started coming to our son cops which are very popular it's always been looking forward to it where in years and years. And it's terrifying to his mom to watch that. My middle and is about to go to driver's Ed which is sister did at the JCC. He's been a counselor in training and she's been I can't counselors that you know you see them go through all levels we. The young ones who Wear our ownership schooler now coming back to be lifeguards. It's it it's it's a great experience we have families who come on the tours for the nursery school to talk about their experiences as. And we get seniors to talk about when their children where did you ACC in Summers by the pool. So it is part of the Stanley in the community for generations. Well if asked we them because they're now you of the that the programs for the young ones who is that throughout the summer how does that kind of transition into summer camp. When you're older or. What is going to be the the cutoff period there we do you have sports and ballet and different afterschool activities some. Arts and crafts is not cross there's a cooking classes during the summer and we do transition and more into summer camp okay I'm there are some activities martial arts still goes on the current classes and they just are consolidating it because some people travel who still have our martial arts I know I Metairie location they're offering classes after clock so Stanley's you artist JG she could come and take ballet class are you know classic that. Or our campers were staying instead going after care could indeed. And then in the pool yes when teams about to start so that's something even if you're not part of summer camp a lot of people come to the and pretty similar having your county ranked. So that's pretty exciting to him tonight that you're around teams plus all these other camps of these you've got you've known for your creativity did you ACC for the summer camps. Brian would you mind share and. Yeah I don't transit there's no transaction who now we're always kind of full flash agent is the we put out today. A mailer every month that has all of our programs for that month and you can look at each month and note that there's something new coming up. So whatever your age group is whether it's used all the way through it all. You're going to have something going on the case to see could be sports or fitness related could be quiet exit could be cultural I mean there's a lot of different things going on so you can always kind of find your niche Dan and obviously meet people get that social engagement as well as. You know exercise fitness all the different ways that impact. What do it some un camps yet but we're talking about. Both JJ unit openings. Interest Syrian website you shot some shots and coming here and it. I always present at launch on all these other things that people might have hurt the arm to be in. This kind of thing you have arsenic content and you have poet you have. Reading it truly does seem like it never stops so that begs the question to a debut adversely. This morning we take and not how to cock that. But there are a lot going. This is if you want to be a member and I know you have. Sliding scale that you talked about. Hopefully through united way or other partners that you haven't missed that help for those who may not be able to eke out. All that it costs to go but you have to go online to do this are you content lie and meet with someone GCC talk about. Membership. Either way okay so you can obviously there's a lot of information on our website which is and a JCC dot org. And then I'm you can call we have people at both senators ready and willing to. Give out any information taking a tour of the building let you peek in on some programs and see you know how we operate. Those things and you know just get a sense of this center so it's always best obviously to come in and see the placing and you get that feel. By bomb making call the uptown sinner. 504. 8970143. And a slowdown slim if you are right so it is going to penetrate bride well I'll repeat that. Please stop 5048970143. And in Metairie it is 5048875158. And again 887. 5158. So there's no reason if you can't go on and that is. That's an OJ EC dot org possibly lies and everybody. We'll give that again for those are listening at the end of the program but lately you can just crawled out and see all the different things that you can do. I've got this from people wouldn't have to ask there are some of the United States and through the years that it must come together. Yeah and unique cardboard. Masking tape these electrical tape whatever. In big boats. And you try to float this is in this kind of is this OJ CC or just a big head start is you're up on me. Kind of tradition it's not something that happens it odd. That I am our card but there is has been a tradition dating scene for years it's 1 that I am. Right now we're not doing it as a whole OJ EC its transition can't communities. As part of the counselor training to teach them. To work together. And that's an activity in the campers are doing now anyway and that there are doing in the pool and having races there so it's it's a and has to be counting talked about how you she your only transition to. Gee is there Indy for counselors are volunteers. Or do you have plenty already. I believe I know hurtful uptown I believe Metairie might still be looking for a couple of people. That each summer usually in January oh okay stressed out early that are really looking for. Counselors counselors in training lead teachers. As well as specialists because we have special activities in drama and I am in sports in. Cooking and is we bring in as McCain who leads the Israeli culture classes. Science off and complementary has a specific person that does science went. On and me an unsung leader that you music as well so we do have opportunities for people with lots of different strength to come and and me. Our campers. And so that's going to be but can he starts in January 2 were talking not just high school or college student that people from all walks of life were getting involved in this. Right and and most and are high school group problems are content counselors in training. So it's really a service to them that they that we can provide to them they give them leadership skills and and work experience. As well as them providing services to the JCC in working with their children. Under the believed it of ours had teachers. So that's pretty amazing how it's it's again it's just how it across all generations and all the things you do. Brian thanks you had to think your book of America act guarantees here are listening audience and some of the really interesting can't that you guys going at it's not too early to register. And you can you give a few of those out there because they're always find. Rights over the summer we doom and throughout the year especially. Mini camps so. Camps for a week at a time during holiday spiritually and use certain camps on. You know individual days that certain schools are out. Odd to provide for you know child care for those children so what we have coming up are definitely acquire its camps. Bricks for kids so Lago building a product at a stop on Allen. Learn together or not they're not making it on the you've. Learn to draw. We do preschool many camps we do a lot of trip camps. Where the focus is getting the kids out of the building to experience a local museum. In some sort of activity and and they come back in the afternoon and swam and and get all that gone. Activity as well. I'm so that's what we have coming up you know throughout our mini camp and in camp here is because we knew we usually have about a three week. Mean he can't period once school and then our traditional camp goes for eight weeks and we have an attitude three weeks. After campus over. To provide as many chance again so you can get as a parent of three you can get child care the entire summer it a year job. You know willing to kind of see what the options are. But you would that that's very important part in terms of the counter aspect of it but it's also. You can call Kelly engaged in different things but all the same place at the same time exactly and we do a lot of family. Programs where you would do those programs with your children. Buy it but you're right using Tom as as a parent and dropping kids off for certain programs that you can go get a work out you go swim you can go. You know attend cultural program or some sort of adult class. And then you know be reunited with your children but I'd let you know to have now so that's why did you guys have been asked earlier I forgot that spot. This just got I think he can get him on it she didn't think about. Ladies listen up or journal in two hours yes okay. Well at least for the massages we have. Rooms for about men and women and we have massage therapists that are skilled and all different techniques depending when he when sports messiah as color you know I don't know massages as Brian just. Actually about. Then we have the spine area where you can and you can get a facial. You can have your eyebrows waxed or anything like that it's so convenient. Is the main thing for army as a mom of and the prices are really good to I have to say so it's a win win certainly and it's just relax into it like he says for your children be. Going in doing something and having fun maybe get in a work out and then you guys that dishonor the steam them and and you treat yourself to a massage. That's a great afternoon who. An appointment or. Can make an opening can often make employment day out it just depends on schedule. Yeah even hit it pure outsider who haven't yet joined as well number. Yeah. Absolutely yeah OK I was it was easier but a great way a great way to test out beyond policies and the programs as the comic get a membership to more ram and with a massage. And that's taken hostage at a group exercise classes which are free imparted membership but non members can just pitch in dollar drop and said he could sample the different classes because we have everything from. Gentle stretching classes do some amazing beer cans and to some cycling classes but it's nice I know when you're taking place out to really try to classes to see what you're getting. I have heard many who won't for the opportunities that that's quite well. I do I know we're just ineptitude I can't or else has been sitting over here why you again Allison. Just a little bit more about east because I know that the program. It's just so wonderful and it's been around for awhile but it's the word is out. How do you go about if you have a loved one that you like to get enrolled in the east program and our dirty nobody does that pass. Well first thought you were just cottage ACC and asked to speak with me I'm the director but I do want clarified that the ace program there's no membership required it is apparently just a program than anyone can can avail themselves of and so yes I well. There's no openings at the moment right where that was certainly you know take your name down and and that can change over time and you did mention you have minor matters starting very soon right yes I tell you haven't about that in my case this isn't he yes it is it's it's relatively new it's a program called mind matters and it's for people who are concerned about their memory and I like to be proactive about their brain health. And so we have a false summer and spring. Semester and it needs every Tuesday in that class what we're trying to do is to promote. What we know is good for brain house and so we incorporate exercise of course the social stimulation of of a group together working. On cognitive stimulation as well we also teach stress. Techniques stress relieving techniques like meditation. A great program that we are excited about and age group are you gearing it towards we didn't aging baby boomers or war. It is for folks at 55 children. Since. And but that's been a really nice new program that if people think side does its I was going to get an opportunity for socialization and be on city home his rookie crossword puzzles and honest that's very interesting now we do hallmark we give hallmark and five. We'll try it. Yeah and at what. We are nearly at 2 o'clock am just gonna get the last were just awesome that things are going on GCC people like more information. And I will pass the reactor at a bakery that. We'll get that web site in those. I'm numbers and typically yes there's a lot of exciting things happening especially with the summer coming up at both are uptown a matter locations so. It's a great time to experience the JCC again if you've been there before or for the first time if you've never tried it. So the best way to contact us is obviously through our website at and go JCC dot org. And also you can reach our senators directly. Your interest in our uptown senator the phone number is 8970143.
