Playboy founder you have. Stories ahead. If this is happening. New Hampshire and his centerfold playmate crystal Harris got into a big fight and there are no longer gonna get married. Then about this -- recently on the show we we -- we talked about the new statistics from the Census Bureau. Indicating fans. Married households for the first time ever. Make up less than 50% of households got a 48%. In 1957 the 8% of households are occupied by married couples now down to 48%. Recently actresses Jennifer Aniston. Cameron Diaz have both said that marriage. Isn't dead it outdated institution. And I don't know about you went but I think that the UN -- And I think most Americans were looking at 85 year old Hugh Hefner. And playmate crystal Harris -- 24 we were looking at them at becoming that couple. That could once again. Bring back dignity to the institution of marriage and -- -- apparently she's moved out of the Playboy Mansion. That's a quite place -- was -- -- improve -- go to a party there one time with at the time my girlfriend Rhonda shear. And there was an -- it was fun to an 85 year old you have her into Tony for your crystal Harris. Not getting married and mark I don't know about I don't know about you but I was just looking -- I was looking to this couple that mature Hugh Hefner that. They the young. Epic crystal -- I was looking at them is coming together and becoming that. That American couple that just. Brings back themed inspiration we all should have for the institution of marriage believe may December romance that touches all of our hearts. Exactly and apparently they got into a nasty argument over the weekend. -- she moved out. Yeah we're looking for those comes in there there's so much cheating and did this sexting with firms congressman -- all that stuff. It just it just reminds us of how sanity is that more people are happily married and I think we were all pretty much what good for our you have to earn 85 and -- -- crystal Harris Tony for two you know bring back what marriage really means. I'm screwed in the morning at nights on WWL -- 7 AM and 1053. FM. -- -- with a -- tonight we do have month a lot to talk about the on the results are in the for a national test that's given to US students -- it's been released and I'm sure you're not gonna be surprised to hear the results don't look that good. Just 13%. Of high school seniors. Showed a strong understanding. Of American history. Some students could not identify and Abraham Lincoln and did not know what he was famous for. I have a few simple questions from the 2010 national assessment of educational progress test. And I'll share those with you put before you criticize the students. How much about American history do you really know. So tonight we're gonna give the a scooter pop quiz on the show. And that will do this they're coming up in just a little while but it here's -- just and a simple question of what will be talking about a do you know the three branches of government. You know sometimes when we discussed political issues on the show we discuss legislation we discuss on the US Supreme Court and the role -- the president. I am amazed as I sit here donor and a talk show that is so many people seem to have forgotten. The most basic. Lessons. Of civics. And this is something that we can apply to our lives. Every day so that's just that's one example and up and -- let's be fair though to forget that you have to know in the first place maybe some people didn't know in the first. I went to east Jefferson high school. If I know it. And you know it's it no offense east Jefferson of course but just being honest. Also I'm not going to ask the question in advance. And say -- here's here's here's the here's the question. Because that you could Google it and everybody would have the right answers what's gonna be more fun to say hey if you wanna try and answer questions. -- call a short game will what you do that here just a few minutes but another another sample question would be who was the cart vice president. And also what is America's oldest city so we're gonna do the -- to pop quiz. On American history yeah I just a little while -- -- a chance to take a pop quiz with us on WWL. I chocolate milk. Is being banned in Los Angeles. United school district the biggest school district in America. Because of obesity. And because this has become such a big problem school districts are banning some items that contain a lot of sugar. Is this chocolate milk band. And a ban on strawberry all flavored noticed this just another example of authorities doing what parents should be doing. Are we living in a world where parents don't do their job anymore and so we expect or we ask the government or authorities to come in. And do the job the parent should be doing. And when you were in school did you drink chocolate milk the check mark did you drink chocolate focus when I did. I think the bigger question is are they -- chocolate milk instead of teaching these kids enabling Dennis Cooper that's that's a really great point. And that's and that that is really another another aspect of this so busy banning things. That maybe we should just put a little more pressure on parents to be parents. Look obesity is a problem. I see every day of my life sodium UC and every day one of the problems with with obesity. Is -- see too many parents. Not wanting to tell their kids know. And I know if there are like separated divorced families single parent families I know a lot of parents feel guilty. And they want to appease their kids they want their -- with the kids to be happy so instead of saying no. They let the kids have whatever they want. And then kids are not as active as they used to be. Is this band on chocolate milk in school really important or is this really a microcosm of a much bigger problem. A problem of of parents not doing their job if your kid shouldn't have chocolate milk then tell your kid you don't get chocolate milk at school. Now our kids gonna sneak stuff of course. But if you take care of your kids in if you have -- eat right. And I know that that can sometimes be a challenge. If you have them exercise and not sit in front of the TV all the -- basically if you are eight parent. Then we don't need schools. To band chocolate milk and and and a lot of people -- applauding right there barely -- that there that's really it's really wonderful lets him. And it's and it's a great thing it's gonna help out with a B do you really think that's going to cut back on obesity at all sure there may be more sugar. In chocolate Milken and strawberry milk it and give the flavored melt. But a ban on this to me is a waste of time it's miss guided. Its misguided energy. In an education system that does seems to have just a few problems if you wanna join our show with a comment tonight colts use excel. 1870. And toll free to numbers 866889. Is 0870. And you don't have to call to participate you can text or show. At -- 7870. I just think we're living in a in a world where. That's -- they're there there's too much emphasis on -- banned this a band that pay mom dad when he just do your job as a parent. I'm screwed in the morning and night for coming right back on WWL. Welcome back to Michelle I'm screwed in the morning at tonight's different. -- -- -- -- I think simply AM -- normal -- free pass them anyway. Talking about this a ban on chocolate milk in the -- Los Angeles united school district the largest school district in the country. And it when I first heard about this earlier today. It's just that it occurred to me that this is not gonna solve the obesity problem. This is this is I've -- Not emphasizing that parents need to teach their kids not to eat too much and look I I understand that there are medical issues and everybody's body is different and I understand it's easier for some kids to. I cannot gain weight compared to other people I mean let's look at done. Look at Mick Jagger for example compared to Vince -- can still lead singer from Alec he's seen Vince -- recently. Have you seen Mike Reno from Loverboy recently they're both a little bloated they are very bloated and and you look at a guy like Mick Jagger Steven Tyler. And I don't think it's just the drugs I think they just have certain body -- are I saw a some -- Reno get an interview once and some is -- -- -- asked and he could still fit into the leather pants. He said he could but instead of thirty to 36 or 3632 now well and yet I've seen of those I see him in those pants recently and and he doesn't fit in embody wears -- anyways I think it is not doing something he favors a no exactly so I understand he's still wears the pants but he put the head and down at what's open that. I understand that there are different body types and I'm very sympathetic. And maybe I guess I'm a little fortunate because. I've I've I've I don't have a tendency to be overweight or try to carry myself put. I don't have the Tennessee some trying to be very sympathetic about this. But what I see in the course of my life is IC Paris over indulging kids and I hear about a ban on chocolate milk and -- it's the government stepping in. And taking overruled the parents really really should path and and think about when you're in school. Did you drink chocolate milk did you have any junk when you were at school. I could think about all my school years grammar school junior high and high school. I need a bunch of junk people around eight a bunch of junk is eliminating all the junk this school really the answer to. The problems that we have and I think mark Menard our producer many great comment a moment ago we're talking about this service quiz in the senate. Kids who don't know on some students it don't know that much about American history. Consider banning chocolate milk maybe that'd be teacher who Abraham Lincoln is on the horse or bill you're on WW LA good evening. -- there portraiture corners. Well until we were gonna do the quiz a little bit later fund somebody just joined as we're doing the the screwed pop quiz tonight before we criticize the students in this country for not understanding how much about the American history I thought we -- our own. Our own questions and just go through a few things about American history we're gonna do that a little bit later in the show but I'll give you across I did a quick sample questions -- And if you'd like. Well I don't know if this is what is this stump scoot him quite well. I don't think a question first. Okay. We -- that the United States Supreme Court get its authority to decide what is -- is not constitutional. Well it's obviously not the constitution. That would be okay so on half right so what's the answer. Chief Justice John Marshall and their decision column operating doesn't worry bit Supreme Court. Gave themselves their right to decide where their constitutional and what does not -- delusional. No it was clear and -- president -- that time. This side mr. opposite decided he not actually -- challenge yet. Because -- John Marshall -- to be a cause and candid and relaxed like content but on the opposite ends of the political spectrum. Well that's very interesting to know and I think the frightening thing about the show tonight is we're actually gonna have fun but also learn something. It's scary all right now bill in the again this is just a little sample question because we're gonna do -- the this could pop quiz on American history a little bit later but. I'm who was president before Barack Obama. June that would be. Charger -- walker bush. No the correct answer is Dick Cheney and bush and Dick Cheney is the correct answer. And I appreciate you calling bill -- some some would argue that the it's usually Karl Rove but no the correct answer is Dick Cheney was actually president before -- Obama. That's that shot. Or not. You know -- could just -- him after Osama bin Laden that would have been overly Saddam Osama bin Laden hunting with Dick Cheney it would have been over a long time ago. This is true all right Billy -- it's a legacy thanks for at least a listing in Slidell Vincent you're now on WW elegant evening. It's -- what's happened is that India -- spell it choir was singing your songs. It was back on -- on the 97 FM. So long time ago that try their luck got it doesn't surprise -- that our seniors don't know -- -- our students don't know much about American history now we've got a governor. Who doesn't know or an ex governor we thank -- could be president who doesn't know American history. Well this is this -- -- study that is coming Alexa is not a study is the result of a national test given the US students every year. And there's this -- results don't look that good just 13%. Of high school seniors showed a strong understanding of American history. And I got a total sample questions from from the test itself and then we're gonna do our own a pop quiz. All right. Well I that -- -- the -- about. The milk question to and even though I really don't have. A lot of standing because I'm jobless. The one thing I do have to say it I think one of the parents' biggest responsibilities. Is giving their child a well rounded diet. And making him try at least everything. That they -- think to give them a taste of everything so they can have a well rounded diet and aired just a whole I don't like it a vegetable reporter. Or whatever I remember when you know my dead -- say look there are kids in China who would love to have those piece -- Sydney in two and then he'd shut -- he didn't say anymore after that but. Yeah you're right my parents may destroy everything there are things in I didn't like it. It if you also if you talk to any doctor. A nurse nutritionist they will tell you how important. Diet is to. Mental capability to physical ability to just your emotions. Well that's right and you know -- respondent felt myself recently but there are diets that you can go on. Did -- eat more alleged regular food what you eat certain amount to this and certain amount to that. And it's cleaned up your metabolism rate your body so that your body -- as the -- more so that you can either accept them die. Yes -- started starving is not the the way to lose weight. That's right starving is not the way to lose weight but if you eat the proper foods. At the proper time a day and all that there's a diet that you can go on that speeds up your metabolism that make you burn your back quicker to thank you -- I've heard about similar diocese do you remember the name of that one. No it's actually something that oh a -- -- it will lose the weight and a bodybuilder friend his -- in this. I had tonight I don't I don't it's a lot better to eat -- small meals throughout the day -- to eat a couple of large meals especially before your rebel advance and I -- out -- I meant thanks for calling and -- in saint rose Arthur you're now on WW elegant evening. First question what did you graduate from. These -- -- 1970. 1970 I was two years before you 19680. And we had options at lunch not not many -- like the pizzas and all they have today. Good my question is when children go to school there is -- learned. Did good things in a bad things but. Lean towards a good thanks. In the dietary supplement they're given these kids in school today is ridiculous I mean to people is the most kind of stuff. Why don't they have normal wholesome meals for these kits. For. -- I don't going back to -- service and I I you know I remember a lot of junk can we had chocolate milk and remember we had these peanut. -- cluster bars and or is some guy at my table once I got six of them in his mouth and I don't remember the -- red beans and rice and don't really remember much about lunch I think shepherd's pie was another thing that was it was it was popular. But it it's I understand what you're saying about their schools providing better lunches but at -- That's only part of the problem it goes way beyond school and I just don't like this idea that we we banned this and we band that and parents. I feel like I guess even if it subconsciously feel like they don't have to work as hard. At it training their kids to be good people -- their kids how to eat properly. Totally agree -- and as far as. What -- the school my mother made damn sure had a good breakfast before I left. And then I have lunches school because I was -- and home and then dinner I had and home. In addition with the breakfast at school lunches school in -- or school. Well -- prayer. We're -- if that's the question and it's the first thing that came to my mind when I've I read today that the -- Los Angeles united school district had a -- -- -- -- -- -- -- if you were two years so I had asked me -- Jefferson you may have been one of the guys that tried to beat me up every day. I'm a little you young. Squirrelly and ugly out. I -- that was me. Pittsburgh and Tampa and are no contest now on just squirrelly and ugly in -- air during WWL. Canada or other problems right so. The question did you. And -- broken window unit about equality. I knew the child. Also all alone all you block you. 20 wow what a tool network Internet you don't get out any more. Our member. Churches where it died it there was talk about Obama did it as you can put what we're gonna people always. If they don't Sunday morning we will always -- immortal are -- -- we have people all too easily on TV are under the -- wound care. In and that's really shall not know outside laying in the street keyboard -- -- planet to our. And it is not who directed at our -- And I don't believe I I I I totally agree with -- -- and I don't think that their kids aren't outside because it's dangerous if more kids are outside if they were more adults out watching the kids that are outside does me every parent has to be there with a kid. Every -- the kids outside. I think they'd be less crime in neighborhoods. A week out yelled we -- Outrageous somebody's window oh dawn apology knocked it out but -- -- -- -- I need adult speed anymore and book and Kerry Wood yeah recreational parts and knew that -- -- -- we know what. You want date and we went outside in the gym bag gay movement but a day. -- do those as they're going to hand out in now. Water also our dog walk out -- -- by. You wanna go as you appear Barbara urge. You to give dongle our partner and you don't they don't want your big boy football. Or baseball. They don't have to try to Cuba not actual card anymore -- you can bet you don't problem. -- -- -- They're currently. I mean I had -- every day out of it gym everyday so -- at school districts -- -- there is some of the -- it. It was limited -- -- big picture you go outside maybe you do so bit. Are -- lesbians are I didn't all people. Can only lead in all -- don't you peace and -- -- want to do whatever they put it direction you'll be able to. Aaron -- you're absolutely right -- to show you wanna join us tonight called 2601870. And toll free 8668890. Point 78. And you don't have to a call to participate you -- our show by texting 87870. Chocolate milk has been banned in the Los Angeles united school district biggest school district in America. And also in a Boulder, Colorado and a few other places sub chocolate strawberry flavored -- jokes have been. Have been banned it's because of obesity becoming such a big problem. School districts are are a banning items that have a lot of sugar content. But isn't the ban on chocolate milk and flavors and jokes just another example of authorities. Stepping in and doing what parents should be doing in the N is it's not up to the school. There's nothing wrong with chocolate milk. There's nothing wrong with some of the junk food kids eat. It's the amount of junk food they eat. And the the problem with the amount of junk food is it parents don't don't limited don't know I know sometimes it's a case of both. You know at -- a bit -- ice I sympathize especially the single parents. Chemical those who are in on. To income household where both parents are working. I understand that is difficult. But it is most important first to -- to be you're to be a parent to your child. And I realize it's difficult but a lot of people do it and there's no reason why more people can't pay more attention to what their kids do. What their kids eat what their kids drink. And and it is is there is -- a ban on racist -- my -- been out of school for this has been out of school for a while he's Tony nine years old. So I don't have all the latest information when it comes to PE and and and recess -- these things really band. In schools now there are there any schools -- still let kids go out and play. When there's recess or do something it PD and if the schools are doing it again let's not depend on the schools to two. It to teach our kids to be the way they should be that's -- to -- was apparent. It's not. It's not the contents. Of the violent video games. It's not the contents. Of entertainment. That is affecting a young generation. It's that time spent. Participating in such a passive activity. It's real easy to do studies that -- kids that played these violent video games all day long are affected by the violent video games. I don't think that's nearly as important as the amount of time they spend playing the video games. So if your parents and you haven't considered this please do us all a favor and consider. Limiting if you haven't done -- and if you're a parent who has done this. Give other parents an opportunity to. Could get some advice from you on how to do this with their kids because if you're a parent and you limit activity with your kids. You limits this you look at FaceBook the Internet that the playing video games watching movies constantly being a part of the TV and -- it if you if you limit your kids. What works for you when he came to limiting your kids and please don't anybody calls it but my kids won't listen if your kids don't listen to you. That's your fault it's apparent he got to start very early in their lives. I YouTube could start with timeout duke -- -- yeah I'm not into corporal punishment but you know spanking is legal it's not illegal you can spank your kids if that's the way you need to discipline your kids. But a timeout as a very affective. Nine violet if you will. Way to teach your kids consequences for negative behavior. And again at act in all of this is stemming from this this this ban on chocolate milk and when I hear about a ban on soft drinks in schools. Hey we did it and we turned out okay. On and I guess that's somewhat debatable. But if you wanna join our show tonight with a comment 2601878. And toll free 8668890870. And I'd -- to talk any any parents who have effectively limited. On some of the that the video and TV activity and FaceBook activity Internet activity. With their kids. And our our recess is an NPA is this is is all gone in schools again if you're if you're a parent you aboard experienced this -- that with this and I do and since I don't -- -- school right now. I don't have much the day to day experience with this. Please call the show and and lightness and also are there things that are there things that you send your kids to school -- That are healthier than maybe some of the choices they get when they're in school and isn't that you your job also was apparent. You you you can you teach kids habits. And you don't start teaching them at fourteen. Or thirteen you -- -- very early in their lives you teach them how -- look at Asian cultures. They eat totally differently from the way we eat. They think about food differently. Japanese eat a lot of rice there are a lot of Dyson will tell you don't need rice because it'll make you fat. They eat a lot of fresh fish in fact. Japan is a small island nation consumes a third of the seafood in the entire world. And if you'll also think about eating utensils and think about chopsticks. Compared to. Forks and spoons. Forks and spoons are like many shovels and too often we're just shoveling food in -- -- Eating with chopsticks is. A little -- well more delicate a little less. A little less gladness if you will. He can be done and we I think sometimes we need to to look at ourselves and we talked about this. Last night within the city of New Orleans and a trash city of New Orleans being named the number one dirty city in America. By travel leisure magazine talked about this last night I see -- sometimes it's good to look at yourself as a city to look at yourself as a as a nation. And it it don't always counter Chastain -- and be proud of everything ESP proud of it pound your chest and and be happy to be an American be happy to be in New Orleans. But also. Don't be afraid to look in the mirror and change the things that need to be changed. Is that chocolate milk banned in schools. Gonna make any difference whatsoever. To 601878. And toll free 866889. Is nearly seven if you're on. -- stay with -- -- -- coming right back with your comments and you don't have to call us to participate you can Texas at age 7870. At night and I've screwed in the morning on WWL. And then they -- Los Angeles united school district biggest ally of America District of Columbia folder to other -- Chocolate strawberry and flavored -- Realize there's an obesity problem but. Isn't this an example of authorities in the government coming in here. Banning chocolate milk like that's quite that something you really need to take away from kids here too often we don't let kids just -- kids anymore. And it sends me too often too many parents with kids just keep. -- -- night shift I'm -- in the morning at night when WWL KM SNN dot com. Incoming Tim O'Brien welcome to our show tonight. Like a child about two more times I'd done a week you Michael. You know just to sum up well like are all in Abu community activities -- out of the park. You know cute don't really not a -- export such teaching basics. It felt like that -- it would -- -- Alan Ball thirteen fourteen kids come out now I'm lucky I get five or six. But it used to fact that we don't get out there who were on. You know we are -- why is it why is that change so much. I don't know that the whole can't feel his tiny man no call to. Lynch and an outcome that we can't people want spread out -- Don't summertime wanna go out there and Ronald whatever. You know if it will put working there haven't adopt Islam is spent -- and park -- -- double -- export -- an Apollo like. You're not -- these kids at all but about life. You know I'm not allowed a little bit biased and very different -- and conversations with the kid. I cannot find out like you know I thought they -- like -- know how. If parents always talked about whatever it they've you know. It disturbed at how or when it comes you know meet it will be very very. It's further out it could pick your kid at all. In my particular interest it was -- going. What are the plane -- a lot of he -- -- and digitally he didn't wanna go out and every run and they don't want to build the thing you know boom boom boom there you go. Yeah you probably know all your lol when did whatever they hate it clearly in the light. You know you need it great that occurred. After that the only way -- basic. All you have to do is go to WWL. Dot com that's a great thing to do. When chocolate milk is banned by even a school district. When soft drinks are banned by a school district and. Good chocolate milk in school and soft drinks in -- there's nothing that we had that when we were young yeah. But when with the wind wind school districts -- -- banning these kinds of things. I think this is just a microcosm for much bigger problem and that is enough parents are doing their jobs and our kids running the households now we're just saying well I'm gonna do this -- -- your kids still wonder how so you run your kids and you teach them. Responsible behavior so when they cannot get out into the real world they're not gonna hurt me or you or anybody else and I'm -- them going to -- we're coming right back with your comments on WWL. -- Now back to -- in the morning on the night shift in the this debate on chocolate milk. And in schools that are really solve any problems at all to join our show Michael to 60187. -- toll free 8668890878. And you can text her show at a 7878. Then the work hours and the work hours later. And other text reads best diet is turn off the TV interestingly -- talk about this after the news at 9 o'clock. There's a a new study out for a published in the journal of the American Medical Association. It does a study on adults and the problems that they have with disease that results from watching too much TV. And here's a text that said I didn't know Dick Cheney was ever president what years did he serve he was vice president screwed. -- this through this in a reference to. A sample question -- a render a -- pop quiz on American history because it's it's been they had discovered dead.
