They didn't kill a man during a home invasion. Even though they pleaded guilty. A decade ago. Last night we've really dedicated our show to the execution of Troy Davis in in Georgia. This is why am having a problem with the death penalty. It is far better to let guilty people go free. -- X acute or incarcerate. An innocent person. To North Carolina man walks free today. When a panel of judges ruled. They didn't kill a man during a home invasion even though they pleaded guilty a decade earlier. I was talking to somebody. Yesterday. And they were telling me about a barge. That was built in Annandale. This was a prison barge. Built in Annandale. -- ended up being docked in New York. This prison barge. Had to exercise rooms. Movies. If you were Jewish. Muslim Christian there were like four different. They were like four different. Kitchens. Do you. It made me realize that prisoners lived better than I do right now. And I don't wanna go into details about my life that's not -- of the point of the show. But it's no wonder that. It's no wonder that some people want actually go to prison because their life is better in prison. Dignity is in the real world. And how -- is that so who can actually blame people for. Wanted to go to present or forward not worrying about committing crimes. So here we've got to North Carolina men. Walking free. When a panel of judges rules. That they did not kill the man He was supposed to deal. And again we talked about this last night if the Supreme Court last night if this guy was scheduled if -- Troy Davis in in Georgia. Was scheduled to die last night. At 6 o'clock our time. And if He didn't die until. After 10 o'clock our time. Are you -- to -- that the Supreme Court didn't have some doubt. And if there is any doubt. You can't kill somebody. It's so easy for us sometimes is human beings to say you know what to kill him revenge. And I realize that I'm very hypocritical. When it comes to my opinion of the death penalty because anybody did anything to my sign. Or somebody that I know or love. -- -- But as a human being I can step back and think that. There's something inherently wrong with the calculated killing. Of another human being. And as I mentioned last night there's a movie from a local director Steve's defeating. Collects a Q should. -- to really. Solidified my new opinion of the death penalty if you wanna -- us -- a comment about anything we're talking about -- 2601878. And toll free our numbers 8668890870. According to testimony. It's a killer -- Figure out the name. It's a killer whale. And if they were grave warning this whale apparently has been responsible for three deaths. And while I. Certainly sympathize with the loved ones and those who were killed. If you're in the company. In the presence. Of something known as a killer whale. If you're in the company of something known as a year -- -- and you go into their territory. And your killed -- You know that's a chance that the chance you take their again how often do we talk on this show about how there are no guarantees in life. That we think we're protected from everything whether it's a hurricane. Or tornado or whatever. We thinks the government or somebody can protect us from everything. We can't be protected. Number three on. But I hated it. -- Texas inmates. Who are set to be executed will no longer. Yet their choice of -- to meals. And I'm thinking you know if you're gonna be XQ did there's a part of me that thinks you know -- if nothing else give them -- last meal request. But there's another part of me that thinks if you committed a crime. And while I'm not for the death penalty. If you can if you're convicted two to death. Then. Why you deserve -- last meal. The person you killed. Didn't get a last meal request. So again I'm not a favor the death penalty but I can't help but think that. Gotta give somebody what they want to eat oh Lawrence Brewer we talked about this a little bit last -- it was a two -- to yesterday. For the hate crime of the slayings of James Byrd junior this was the guy and this is the African American. Three white guys in a pickup truck. In Texas. -- part of that doesn't make sense. So this guy a last night asked for. Too chicken fried steaks. I triple beat. Bacon cheeseburger. -- -- -- Of barbecue. Whether it's commercials development team so. -- A pint of ice cream a slab of peanut butter fudge. With crushed peanuts. In prison officials said. He didn't eat any -- and you know what if I were scheduled to die the next day I'm not sure I would eat. My last regressed you know what's really interesting if you think about you and last night mark we talked a lot about. We talked a lot about last meal request and there seemed to be a theme. If if rich. People. Were sentenced to death and they're not. Because the justice system isn't totally fair but it rich people were sentenced to death how many. How many lance meals would be lobster. What the muscles in a light wine white wine sauce with bread. Mean if you think about the if you think about the last meal requests. They almost reflect. The ethnicity. And these socio economics of the people who were sentenced to death -- William mean for their last -- don't try anything new -- They want something that will make it exactly but if you think about though you know when I I've done research on this and -- looked at last meal requests and I haven't seen anybody who wanted. You know lobster. Crabs. Shrimp. Mussels. Clams. Did you imagine trying something new for your last meal -- A horrible. There would be. That's so I would imagine your life you might wake up the next morning with a little -- astronomical problem instinct you know what I'm ready to die kill me now. -- is going to be the next morning -- I think usually this is Canada. A four hours before there all right number four on our list of the top eight at eight. Texas governor Rick Perry and former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney are gonna artists like get out tonight. In -- GOP debated fact it's probably going on right now -- Trust me on this. Michelle Bachmann. Is a joke. She's out she's finished I predicted this for so long. It's not that she's a Republican. It's not that she's a woman it's just. She's not presidential material she isn't yet. And the interesting thing is right now there's a poll out that shows that Sarah Palin. Going against. Barack Obama in 2012. It's 49. Barack Obama 44%. Sarah Palin. And share of Sarah Palin is another. It yet they're not presidential material. A couple of these to you it's I'm scoots for Tommy Tucker tonight and every W well 8:7 AM when a 53 FM and dot com. It was a big -- seventy party -- opinion poll who was ultimately responsible for Michael Jackson's death. His doctor. WL dot com. What -- -- saying is that was Michael's doctor a smooth criminal. Portion Michael look at the man in the -- Say I love that in mark Bernard generated studio and and that's the update on and on the poll. Which was it was that -- smooth criminal -- -- Michael look in the mirror. I'm gonna share something that come and get to some of these tax and get to your calls -- I want to share something that I've never. Shared over here before. I've had five knee surgeries on. The same day. I've had. My -- out as an adult. I've had to various. Gentle things. It all ended in 2002. So it's over. But I was addicted. To pain medication. I wasn't taking that much and again I've never. Admitted this on the -- But I was addicted. Brett Favre when He was addicted to like it and was taking. Thirteen a day. I was taking three. Enhance. But it was over a period of time to -- ways to fight it and it would spark to set it was. It was what ever. And I went to doctors. And ask them for it. Because I liked it and I wanted to it again this is something that ended in 2002. It's over it's not part of my life right now. But I'm not the only person who's gone through this. And I was addicted to something that was totally legal. My feeling used. Michael Jackson. New. He was taking something to escape. Therefore. If a doctor offers you something. And you accept that who's to blame. The doctor or you. I blame Michael Jackson. And I accept responsibility for myself. It was never the fault of any doctor. And I went through. Hell. When a cold Turkey it. Getting off of a pain medication. It was awful and I'll share more of that with you as the show goes on. But I don't like Michael Jackson's doctor -- a doctor gives shoes if you. Ask for something do you blame the doctor or do you blame yourself for asking port. I know people who look for doctors. Who will give them pain medication. In fact. I will probably no matter how much pain I'm in as a result of me doing a show tonight. I will probably never ever. Get pain medication again although I do know how to control it now. When I was addicted. I would go to a doctor if a doctor would give me. Pain medication. I would say this doesn't really agree with my system. I need something else. So I still have -- full prescription. And they would give me another -- I was working the system. That was my. If Michael Jackson. Needed help with drugs it's his fault. If somebody offers you something and it's not the right thing if it's the wrong thing to do why can't we take. Why can't we. Take responsibility. For our behavior. Michael Jackson wanted it I don't blame the doctor. And if you have to be in. You don't have to say your real name we're not gonna. Tracked it down bite if you have ever. Gone out of your way. To get pain medication. You're not alone. A lot of people do it. And a lot of predictions. A lot of deaths. Result. From legal. Prescription medication. To join us for the comets and Michael to 60187. In toll free our numbers 866889. Is nearly seventy. And you can -- our show by texting 87870. Here's a text that reads I guess you get your -- all these by pushing your liberal views and calling conservative ladies stupid. Who were not there to respond you should be proud of yourself scoot. I guess for an encore you'll knock an elderly woman crossing the street down for land yet. Isn't it interesting. First of all there's nothing illegal. About being liberal or conservative. If you listen to they show on a regular basis you really can't figure out what I am. I judge each issue. On the issue. And I don't view everything through the same myopic political perspective. And if you listen they show. You know that. But there's nothing wrong with being honest. Michelle Bachmann. Is a joke. Sarah Palin is a joke. It's not because they're women it's not because they're Republican. It's because there are a joke and history will prove me right because neither one of those women. Will last long in the race and the effect I would think right now that the Obama administration Democratic Party. Is funding. The Michelle Bachmann campaign funding the Sarah Palin. Alleged campaign if it if it happens. That's the best thing that can happen to Obama. Are you kidding me it's not that she's a conservative. It's not that she is I said really great things about Jon Huntsman. I said good things about a lot of people who -- conservative. So don't you dear. Nail me on criticizing or taken away my right under the First Amendment. To be honest about Michelle Bachmann and Sarah Palin. They're not too. Presidential. In river ridge Mike welcome to every W out. Hey Greg talked and India. The talk a little bit about -- the -- panel the issue yeah. You said that most people probably feel that they would be given a choice for rapid turn loose. They quote guilty person rather than exe cute any. They quote innocent person well. Part of -- in the quote in his apartment that you have to have a lot of evidence. Against any individual to even be. You know convicted and he'd -- out. Being executed when you agree with that. Well you would think that there's a lot of evidence but as I I I just mentioned yesterday. Two people were. Released from prison. Because of new evidence that was was found in in North Carolina. And they were. Convicted of killing somebody and they were they were both released it is -- again in in my opinion it's far better. It's far better for a guilty person to go free than for an innocent person to be -- acute -- or even incarcerated these people were in prison for a decade. Well it could be -- problem that point yet the quote guilty person. -- -- what you think he's going to do. A. It doesn't matter. Committed debt from a -- it will of course that matters of course that's important. But it is far better you can kill an innocent person. UK and costly and western. One apparently intent on killing an innocent person in just. Well put it already but it but that the problem with the death penalty as it you can you can Google issue could research this. There is case after case after case. A people who have been released from prison and released from death row because of new evidence proving that they're not guilty. We cannot ever as. Humane society we cannot ever exe cute and innocent person. And we have. Well that and unfortunately you know anyone says a lot -- crazy but. But almost beat almost people's -- but it's someone convicted and sentenced to. To execution doubt isn't that the general thought well instead of putting them and -- beating them and help put twenty up thirtieth. That's -- aria and execute -- if they didn't navigate the chance to even be you know. Possibly. Put this in one day to DNA our party and a the same point. Why -- I I understand where you're saying that that's not good either because that means if we've if we rush the process then we're eliminating the possibility of new evidence. Look I think like if we're gonna have a death penalty in this country. It needs to. It needs to be. I'm. Executed a lot sooner than it is to me this guy who has X accumulates -- Troy Davis in Georgia. Was on on on death row for 22 years it shouldn't take that long. If we're gonna have the death penalty -- needs to come a lot closer to the crime that was committed. Well wouldn't -- -- one little quick Ahmad had yet to go where tea was a criminal share one back in in and probably in these orders and He told. It will grow up that before then. So should be you know executed EE yet that our government Allah these a couple of months that -- eat. A change and billion opportunity to witness an actual execution Angela and electrocution. And -- set up the saw that. It's soul. Program. That like is said in Napa. The death penalty in the same thing again. I think we should I I think I wish I think we could see I I agree I think we should see -- if we are as a as a people as a country we are to judge. News validity of the death penalty we need to see. We need to see what we're talking about Mike and political the show thanks for listening if you wanna join us with a comment and I've got called to get to it a number of interest and text. Coming up call 2601870. And toll free 8668890. X seventy. And our text number is 87870. -- -- mark Bernard is -- around the studio running the show. It for Tommy Tucker we're coming right back with more and -- WL. I can tell you from personal experience advantage if -- doctor. It gives you medication. That you ask for. It's not that doctor's fault. It's your fault and I go to a lot of doctors that had not warnings. To give pain medication to to everybody but I know a lot of people who seek pain medication we're talking about this because Michael Jackson's doctor. Is going on trial in LA for manslaughter charges. Because He gave Michael Jackson. Medication that apparently killed him so who's at fault. Having gone through this and again this has been over for me since 2002. And I think god literally for that. But I have to admit that I sought opportunities. To get pain medication I still have chronic pain I mean I've had five knee surgeries on the same me. I still have chronic pain. But I'm not on pain medication. And that was my decision. Uptown Gregory welcome to WWL. I don't excuse it Gregory. You right now I'm doing great. Yeah we're 20 but it it is true. But it took it -- victory. Wanna go and I'm not sure. Yet if out -- -- 1000. The -- pitchers that do it man oh really you're in you were in federal prison yes. Doesn't captain Abu. Was on WOR and now. As long time ago. Well I just I I've I've heard I've talked to a couple of people in fact on on -- on a show coming up soon I'm gonna have somebody who I know. Who has been in in federal prison and I'm gonna use a different name for him but he's gonna come on the show when he's gonna talk about what life was like. And then I I hear about somebody who helped to build a barge. Prison barge that ended up being and I in New York it was built an Avant dale. And I hear about life in prison and it to be honest with you without going into details of my life right now in a lot of ways. I might be better off in prison -- right now. I have -- I have treatment -- boot. And pretty good news day. -- live. Everything. So you're telling me that you'd rather be in prison. Are -- any job right now these numbers. You know in. But He -- Ever pillar erected in his. Which you took would you commit declined to go back to prison. That obviously you know. I think a lot of people don't understand that 44. A lot of people -- and I'm not one of them but for a lot of people prison. Is better than the life they lead so what's the incentive to not commit a crime. You know a lot of what was the debate in Africa. They're living and and and these -- was Yeltsin's. You know you can talk to him very they have been elected events center in. No wonder treats. -- me. There is something about there is something about freedom and I I would never. Ever suggest that prison is better then -- freedom but if you think about. What some people go through and you think about their lives it's no wonder that. They have a structure they have a they have a place they have a better. It's sad that some people have a better life in prison that they do in the real world. An out. -- -- got to say and what happened and let food that is in the loans.
